*Edit* I added slightly newer pics that show the T/S lift.
Ok guys, I know the issue of steering stabilizers has come up in the past, as I have used the search function to try to answer this question before posting. So let me recap my findings before I get the usual reply to a newbie of "use the search function". Most posts that I read went something like this; "our steering system does not accomodate a steering stabilizer" and "our steering system does not require a steering stabilizer".
I disagree with the assumption that we do not need a steering stabilizer. My 33x12.5" Interco Super Swamper Radials are 60lbs+ each, and my wheels are 20lbs+. I recently changed my steering gear box b/c it was worn, and I still have some significant knocking on the output shaft of my steering gear box from the tire size (the problem does not occur when I run the stock tire size). The SSR tires really are abusive on my steering system, even though I replaced every steering/suspension component in the front end, except for the idler arm. A steering stabilizer would greatly reduce the jarring received by the steering gear box output shaft and would likely improve driving with such a large tire.
So back to my point, I would like to know if anyone has fabricated a steering stabilizer system for the D. I am trying to locate a similar setup from another style vehicle to model my own fabrication off of. I would appreciate any positive input and direction that anyone can offer. Thanks!
Oh, and here are a few pics of my truck with just the body lift (these tires did NOT fit w/o the T/S lift and serious fender/body trimming). I also have nerf step bars, painted frame, OEM tails and will soon have my hitch modified so that my dual exhaust will fit correctly. I will get new pics up as soon as I can find my digital camera
