hi, i think i need some help on this one
my front end still makes clunking noises over holes or small bumps ,
allready had some work done in service but it still makes noises
they just change all shocks aand sway bar bushings .
it got little bit better but still annoying sound
it already cost me 500$ ;( any idea what should i check next ? thanks for any info.
make sure your sway bar is tightened to spec. mine made similar noises after I had a spindle lift installed and it was due to the shop not tightening the sway bar properly.
Tonight I just decided to order the four control arms loaded with new bushings and ball joints to save on labor. This week we got new KBY MotoMax shocks all around and new stabilizer bar bushings and links which stopped our noise but the control arm bushings and ball joints are showing a lot of wear as are the outer tie rod ends that I also ordered from RockAuto.com tonight.
The nice part is one can make a front end like new for less than the taxes on a new truck.
There are many things that can cause your problem. Since you said it was at a shop, I am sure they checked the ball joints, wheel bearing, and tie-rods for play. The control arm bushings are another possibility. But, a commonly overlooked problem are the torsion bars and the sway bar end links. A common mistake on checking sway bar end links is checking for play while the vehicle is jacked up or on a lift. You have to check for play while the vehicle is on the ground.
