been back and forth on a day that i could paint my wheels for the last few weeks.. finally, im gunna go for it tomorrow!!
have everything i need, except tack cloths and clear coat.
so i guess im gunna have to make another run.. but i figure ill start aroudn 7AM sanding, take a break and go get some tack cloths and the duplicolor wheel coating clear that advance sells..
ill take some pics and let you guys know what happens!
Good luck! Keep us posted. I just did mine last week took it to a shop to get balanced and 1 rim was bent to hell gotta now paint a spare one I have. What rims are you painting???
lol.. sry guys.. BUT it is gunna be done on Jan 19th.. im off, so i think im going to do them that sunday the 18th..
i need a jack and 2 more stands, so im going to pick those up in the mean time along with the tack cloths and clear coat that i needed.. i promise you guys wont be let down.. ill take plenty of pics..
i figure id start around 630-700 am and get done around 8pm (with them bolted up on the truck)
If you can I would give them a full day to dry before bolting them up. When I did mine using the duplicolor products they were still a little soft about 10 hours after painting and I had the rims in the sun and then inside the heated garage drying.
normally, when i paint stuff, i rush, and thats the kind of finish i get.. so i want to do this right.. but i was thinking about not putting the clear coat and just leaving it the duplicolor wheel coating, black.. which ends up being more of a matte black.. but then i dont think it will have very much protection from getting scratched/nicked as it would if it had the clear coat on it..
hmmm.. good point.. here in florida its been in the 80s so i think if i leave them out when i finish them and then the day after as well, it should be good..
thanks for the tip!
o ya, im not powder coating them, bc for that much.. i could just get new freakin wheels after dismount/mount/balance.. blah blah
If you prep the wheels right and take your time painting them, they will look just as good as powdercoat. Trust me, they will come out looking sweet and you will love knowing you only paid about $50 for the products to do the whole job.
ya i agree man.. and everytime i look at yours.. im like.. UGH! lolll i cant wait!
