Looking at buying a 1996 2500 V10/auto 4x4. New trans at 110000 currently has144000. Any thoughts, concerns, or advice from any who have owned similar trucks? Thanks.
Nice truck, but service the trans and adjust the bands. Patc transmissions has a good site. Their manual fill valve might be of interest to you. Also their anti-flip rear servo would be a wise investment. Check out Borgeson steering boxes,I think you'll like what you read. These are great trucks with a little improvement.
Thanks for the info. Will spend some time getting to know the ins ands outs of this particular PU over next few months. I owned and driven 70's and 80's PUs for years. This will be a new experience.
My '96 V10 4X4 Has been very good to me, except the California only single catalytic converter.
I swapped out the plastic thermostat housing for a factory aluminum replacement one because I couldn't get the plastic one to seal. I tow a 5th wheel trailer with it and I've had to put front brakes on it fairly often, probably because the trip to the desert is through the mountains.
I think you will like it, I know I do.
