I put the fat Taylor Shortie wire on my truck,2005 and have had some tough starting problems been to the dealer several times with no result...well this time they noticed them and stated that this will cause that problem since there is supposed to be some kind of spark in the 2nd cylinder that the cross over wires will do...so I swapped back to the long ones and it seems to start.I picked it up today -I guess I ll know tomorrow morning.
That sounds bogus, because if it were true, everyone with shorty wires would be having the issue. I've had shorties on my '04 for over 30k miles with no problems.
no faulty wire-it would show as an error code. Minus 16 this morning and the truck fired right up..I dont know bit it seems to have resolved it. It only happens in minus 0 temps.
Perhaps a PCM reset would help?... When you add mods, Sometimes it takes a good resetting after you install them to get rid of the gremlins. Keep us posted, also your dealership is FOS and they are only blaming the wires because they have no clue as to what is wrong... which can be expected from them. My truck is just about out of warranty and I don't plan to let it see the inside of a dealership again for that fact alone.
When my truck had a timing issue they could not find I told them I had changed to the H/O cams over 30,000 miles ago. They came back and said that was the problem and that the H/O cams WILL NOT work in a standard 4.7L... I asked them why they worked GREAT for 30,000 miles... and they got quiet... then said "thats not possible, those cams will NOT work in your 4.7L!" They told me if they keept working on it then I would have to pay for the labor because the cams where the cause...
I told them to keep looking, and stood by the fact that the cams where NOT the cause of the timing problem. LONG STORY SHORT, they tore the engine down to find the crankshaft woodruff key that turns the cam sprocket just about sheered off... This was causing the timing issue between both the cam sensor and the crank sensor.
If I had taken their word for this would have Not been found until it broke and took out the valves and pistons.... so NEVER think that your dealership mechanic knows it all.... because they don't (but they sure think they do)! When they fail to find a problem they will fathom one up and look at you in the eye and tell you thats the cause... but in many cases they are wrong! So look for a second opinion when you smell a fish fry at the dealership. I cant stand some dealership mechanics... I do have several friends that work at dealerships so I'm not talking about all mechanics...Heck even my friends have story's about some stupid stuff they have seen ASE cirtified techs do.
Air ram remember me? Missing air ram at Fort Gordon. Well they did a few pcm RESETS AND NEVER SOLVED IT.Well with stok wires it starts fine???? GOT ME just want it to work --feel me?
