So after I did all the motor work in my 01 ram 1500 5.2 I put a new temp switch and thermostat in the truck just to find that the truck is overheating and not staying at a good temp but the main thing I need an answer on is why the hell the truck runs flawless when overheated but when at a normal temp the truck hesitates and almost died when revving the motor. I know people know a lot more about these trucks then I do, so any suggestions would be nice LOL.
Is the check engine light on or anything like that? Have you checked anything in the cooling system out? I would also check out the vacuum lines, when one of those crack they can cause stalling that sometimes gets better as the motor warms up. What kind of motor work did you do?
I saw you have another thread open with more detail about your motor work. If you havent got a tune yet, you should try that, and setting fuel sync if it hasnt been done.
Figured out it wasn't overheating in fact it was temp switch and also figured out that with a little tinkering, the truck don't need a tune In fact it needed the idle upped and it needed timed
The pcm provides timing, if you moved the distributor it just changes fuel sync
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
