There is no replacement for displacement. The 318 isn't a bad motor either but these trucks need torque to get them moving. They aren't light A bodies that's for sure!
360 here too! And I love it! Although my Guitarist has a stock 318 and his will keep up with mine all the way. But his is a reg cab, mines a club cab. Same year models.
360 here 98 2500 Quadcab long bed 4x4 I love the truck but wish I had the shortbed. It has 265 x 16`s BFG`s and I trying to decide on putting 33`s on with American Racing Hurricane wheels 16.5 x 9.75 maybe I`ll post this to see if any pic`s surface.
yeah...my stock 360 will put the hurt on a GT Mustang. Talk about your slutstang ego mutilator
I guess the only thing that would hurt them more than a stock full size pickup whoopin their ass would be if...a Geo whooped their ass. LOL, I'd pay to see that.
360 in my '84 3/4 ton 4x4 mud truck, and 360 in the '01 qc/sb 4x4 haulin the 84 to the mud drags. love em both, with the exception of a few tranny issues (some funky sensor 2 shops haven't figured out yet) with the 01, never had a problem with either!!! 2 'ol boys sittin around lookin at their fords and chevys said 'we need a truck with More Power, and bein from the south this was said with a drawl, and there was born the MOPAR
I'm glad I have a 360 in my rig, but i'm pissed that dodge didn't offer the 5speed behind it. Does anyone know why they didn't? It's alot easier to change the 318 for a 360 rather than changing your auto 360 into a manual. That would be the only reason i'd want a 318 5speed, no disrespect to you 318 guys but the 360 does have around an extra 100ft lbs of torque, and I want a manual so bad its a big money issue though. But a guy can still dream, can't he?
The pre T-300 trucks 1992, 1/2 Ton Rams on down, used the N.P.435 which is what I have in mine. Being designed in the early fifties, overdrive wasnt a necessity for fuel economy as today. The NV4500 is a five speed but only available in Rams from 1993 up I believe. Sure would love to have a NV4500 in my 1/2 ton 1990 PowerRam! Both the NP435 and the NVG4500 are almost bulletproof but that I think the "tunnels" are different between the two. The newer Dodges have a HUGE tranny tunnel

The NV3500 wasn't up to the task of holding the power of a 360, or at least so Dodge claimed. The NV4500 was too 'heavy-duty' for the 1/2 ton, again, according to Dodge. Plenty of people tried getting Dodge to offer them, to no avail.
I have the NV5600 in my Diesel and love it. BTW www.advanceadapters.com makes just about any adapter hardware for atlas transfer cases and NP and NVG transmissions. Good site for motor and tranny swaps. You will notice that most the other brand x trucks use DODGE components, dont that piss you off! :rck:

You tellin' me the 360 came stock with 400 lb-ft of torque?? You are dreaming. The 360 came with 15 more hp and only 45 more lb-ft. Yeah, it'll tow soooo much more than the 318 and there's no way a NV3500 can handle that much roaring power. :WHT:
