Was wanting to find out if anyone had replaced the water pump bypass hose before? I think i am needing to do it and kinda want to know what all i am going to need to take off to get to it and how long of a job it usually is.
ok, i done it earlier tonight. took me about 3 hours and that was with me having to wait on a new bypass hose to arrive to my house. I ended up removing the air compressor, alternator, and the bracket. That is all i had to remove minus the air cleaner housing which was no big deal. was actually an easy job. i took pictures of my progress and will try and get a "how-to" on here for other folks.
Just my opinion, but I tell you, unless you really think that bypass hose is bad, leave it.
I was replacing the water pump and based on recommendations on these forums I replaced the bypass hose.
If yours is bad and you have to replace it, do like jmw132001 and take off the accessories and that support bracket, otherwise it is near impossible to get to the side on the engine.
Even with the A/C compressor off, you can't get to the factory clamp through that little hole they give you. You need that support bracket off.
I didn't take it off and just cut the hose off, destroying the rest of it and the clamp with a big screwdriver and hammer.
Frustration factor is high and keep young kids away as you will let out at least one curse word.
I replaced the factory clamps with screw clamps.
