I just came across a few pics of my old '93 Dakota. It was a 318-powered regular cab Sport with an automatic, and had the rare "off-road appearance group" (which is really odd since the truck was two-wheel drive). The green color wasnt particularly common on Dakota Sports. Most of them were red or black. I used to have stats for production on the '93 Dakotas somewhere, along with a lot more pics of the stuff I ended up doing to do this truck, but I cant find any of that now. Only a handful of others like it were made. I actually saw one of those few not long ago, but it was a manual, and in terrible condition. It also had the light bar originally but someone had removed it.
As you can see, I removed the silver decals on mine. Had the truck been ordered with a delete option for the decals, it would have been even more rare. By the time I sold it, this Dakota had 180,000 miles on it and was still running great. I had replaced the tires and rims, and it sat significantly lower than you see it in these pics.
Did I mention it was extremely FAST???
I dont know how many 1G Dakota enthusiasts post in here, but since I just ran across these pics today I thought I'd share them. I sure do miss this truck! I'd give anything to go back in time and not sell it!
There were quite a few of them being made by the early '90's, once Dodge had introduced the "Magnum" V8, and people realized what a great bargain these trucks were. But I dont remember ever seeing too many of the '87-'91 models.
hey i got a 87 and its low i love it but the tranny went out it sucks so i have too find one they want 1500.oo for one i may of found one for cheaper let me know where i can find one thanks
hey I had a 1st gen '89 dak. it is still out there, as my brothers truck. This is the truck I was drivng before I got my current truck. it has around 230,000 miles, and still runs like a champ.

i have a 93 sport with 272,000 miles that still runs great. it's a v6 5spd and i love it. tons of power. i drive it hard every day and it has never given me any major trouble.i wouldn't trade it for any other truck i've ever owned. i just wish i would have gotten one sooner.
Mines an '87, V6, 5 speed manual with 235,000 and runs great...with the exception of dieseling on shut down. Body is in great shape, no dents, paint is oxydized though. Love my 1st gen DAK. :gr_patrio
im on my third gen1, i have had a 91, 92, and am currently driving a 93 i purchased about a month ago. its only at 67k and hopefully it will be running into the 200's
I own a 96 dakota sport v6 magnum with green paint. just need to replace the grille and the radiator. Im going to be putting two tone on the bottom so it will be green on the top and silver on the bottom. I have alot of other things I want to do to as well. I love my truck runs strong with 112,000 miles and looks great
thats my old 95 dakota sport.5.2/5spd,3.91 posi,.They didn't have the heads, cam choices, intakes etc when i put that one together,so i had a lot of trial and error.I had the small RT cam,RR,MP headers, msd ign, custom CAI to a dual snorkel air cleaner(ducted to the front air dam).Notice the decals on it,that was back in 95-96 when i had them made.Maybe thats where Dodge got the idea from?lol Last i saw it was on Ideal Buick's lot in dec 98(Frederick md).anyone seen my old truck?I used to run it at 75/80 dragstrip and mason Dixon dragstrip.my best time was a 13.40 at 101
i just seen 2 of those dak sports in the junk yard last friday maybe around 88-89 both had rollbars mounted in the bed, 1 had over 200,000 miles on it still looked good both where v-6.

Lower weight = greater performance + better city MPG
DCX says they are presently willing to pay $1 per pound for special material to reduce weight. That means that they are not willing to pay $1500 to have suppliers give them parts that would knock 1000 lbs of a 3rd Gen Dakota.
All those who have driven 1st Gen Dakotas know what having a truck 1000 lbs lighter does.
Wouldn't you like the option of paying $1500 to be able to buy a Dak as light as the 1st Gen's ?
I had a '94 Sport. Had that really nice dark metallic blue on it and was a decal-delete truck with the aluminum rims. Really nice truck, never a moments' trouble out of it.
Dealer had even installed one of those power rear windows lol.

Interesting. But in a market where the Dakota currently sells for almost as much as a full-sized Ram (even closer when you factor in rebates), the average Dakota buyer today probably is not willing to pay $1500 more.
