97 Stratus cranks but won't fire

Cold morning in Alabama. Girlfriend backed out driveway, and 2.4L Stratus (100k) stalled. It cranks but will not fire. It sounds different, as if something's -- fuel pump? -- not kicking in. I've replaced battery. Checked all fuses. It's been running great, driven fast on Interstate for hours, until today. Had tranny replaced in spring. Any ideas?

Check for spark, check for fuel. One of the two is missing. If you don't have the tools to check fuel pressure ( http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=92699 ), squirt a shot of "STP" carb cleaner (flamable but not as harsh as starting fluid) up the throttle body while cranking to see if you get a sputter.
Key off, gas cap off, your ear close to the fuel filler hole, have your girl turn the key to the on position. You should be able to hear the fuel pump kick on and build pressure for a second or two.
If you have an OBD tester ( http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroke...arch&Parameters=OBD+II+Autoscanner$CP9135$ACM ) check the PCM for error codes.
