I have a bad vibration in the front end of my truck when I am in two wheel drive. My CAD is operating correctly, i jacked it up and the axle disengaged like it is supposed to. But I did notice that the drive line going to my front axel still spins when I am in two wheel drive. Is it supposed to spin in two wheel still or not. The vibration doesnt start until around 25 mph. Any way when I shift into four wheel from two wheel the vibration will go away. I am stumped at this point. Any one have some ideas that I can look into. Thanks
With the truck off and the transfer case in Neutral (parking brake on, wheels chocked etc.) grab the front driveline and force it up and down. If there is a lot of slack in it you may need joints and a CV (or 'pin yoke') kit in it.
At that low speed, the driveshaft shouldn't affect anything unless it's REALLY bad.
Also at that low speed, tire balance shouldn't play a role. If there is a bad tire with, say, a broken belt or seperated tread you could find it by spinning that wheel while it's off the ground and watching the tread surface for a lump.
While you have the wheels off the ground, check your wheel bearings for excessive play.
When you shift into 4X4, you change the dynamics of the front end, as everything tightens up when torque is applied.
