on a 5.7 hemi?
mines an 05 with 27k miles.
whats the usual service length on stock or entry level plugs?
whats some top notch brands out there for the hemi i should think about switching to when i swap em?
The plugs are the cheap part, the labor is what gets ya. I would have put in platnum had I know you could use platnum plugs. Someone said there was a problem with platnum plugs in Hemi's ????? I believe the reason a GM truck can go a 100k without changing them is beacuase they use platnum plugs right from the factory.
So far I think I have noticed about a 1-1.5mpg increase since I changed the plugs. So i think its good idea to change them, but if you can go back with a plugs that can last 2-3 times as longer I would do that without hessitation.
hey guys, bumpin my old thread here. doin my plugs today - going with the Champion Traditional spark plug 570 RE14MCC4.
any suggestions on maybe swapping the wires or should a novice like myself bother? if yes, do you suggest a nice entry level easy to install wire upgrade?
thanks guys!
Because of the unique shape of the Hemispherical combustion chamber Chrysler engineers found that using two spark plugs, one firing slightly after the other, provides a much more efficient combustion of the fuel-air mixture.
Im at a little over 50k and still using OEMs and run just fine. You know what they say about fixing things that arent broke........seriously though, I do plan on changing mine soon.
My 2008 4.7 has 16 plugs. I think I remember reading that the combustion stroke plugs were 30K mile coopers and the exhaust stroke plugs are 100K mile platinums.
I get to change 24 plugs here soon! Truck just turned 30k I got ngks and taylor wires for that, then my 2000 ZR2 Blazer is about to 100k and i got plugs, wires, cap, and rotor for that. Looks like i'll be busy!

Yup, just had to order a set of 8 copper plugs from the dealer at $4.20 each. None of the local dealers had them in stock and none of the local parts stores (Kragen, NAPA, etc) could find the right spark plugs.
Truck currently has 35k miles (in 7.5 months) and it seems to be a bit down on low-end power. I'm not particularly thrilled about having to replace the plugs every 6 months, especially since they appear to be a PITA to get to.
