i have a 1985 dodge ram w/a 318 and am considering swapping the engine out for a newer one. the main reason being more power and fuel injection. i was wondering if the motormounts i have now would work for the newer 318 or 360 and if not what kind of modifications would have to be made.
wouldnt hurt to get the Magnum motor mounts. IIRC the LA used a slightly diff style and the Mags are supposed to drop right in. its a pretty straight forward swap.
you will need the ECM and harness if ya want the MPI benifits. tranny is a diff issue. magnum motors used the 45 and 46RE.
If I remember correctly, prior to '97 (????) the Magnum engines still used the old LA style mount brackets. If you choose the 360, the left side engine bracket is different from the 318 and it's also an externally balanced engine so you will a 360 spec. torque converter.
