What is the best way to sea foam a 2004 Dodge Ram with a 5.7 hemi? Half in the gas tank and half in the brake booster? Or what? Thank you guys for the help
I am in a very similar situation, many of my close family are now driving dodges and we are very happy with our choices. Two 2005 Dodge ram 5.7L Laramies and a 2005 Durango V8 Sport.Over the years Seafoam has helped with several fuel injector related problems.
A few years ago I learned about Archoil products used in heavy equipment and started using it last year to keep fuel fresh, clean valves and piston tops (AR6200) and ring groves and the crankcase in general as well as lower friction (AR9100). AR9100 is more popular with the Ford PowerStroke stiction concerns.
I will still use a half a can of Seafoam for 1-20 miles before an oil change. It will make the oil darker sometimes but may just be flushing stuff out of the oil filter.
Getting my first ever Dodges at the age of 64 I have been reading a lot since we recently picked up a 2007 Dodge Dakota (3.7L) with 62K miles for the daughter and now the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 (gas 5.9L) with 110K miles. Both came with very dirty oil but claimed to be fresh oil changes (as in 500-1000 miles). Running the AR9100 in the crankcase and AR6200 in the gas both new oil changes are getting dark quicker than I would expect so I am doing some short oil change intervals.
Being new to Dodge these two trucks are impressing me. I turned out the air bag light last night by replacing the air bag clock spring in the drive way. Not a physically add job like digging out/finding the many tools that I needed.
Back to Seafoam I think it does clean carbon off of piston tops but is it the best product for the job I do not know. I have purchased it by the gallons in the past and it never created any harm to any engine that I knew about. It did help stop up a fuel filter in the old P30 motorhome however.
