2009 Ram 1500: I am trying to program a new RKE key following the procedure in Chapter 2 of the owners manual. I have two functioning keys as required, however when I insert the second key in step 2, I do not get the chime and vehicle security light flash after 10 seconds as stated in the manual, which is an indication that the system is ready to program the blank key.
Anyone else have this issue ? Is there some secret sauce not mentioned in the owners manual ? Both current keys work 100%. Thanks
You're right on the money and that's how I programmed my new key so I'm not sure what the problem is here. Maybe some else can shine some light on this one.
Do you have a program tune on the truck? You may need to put the stock tune on it and try again. If not, I'd try waiting a few seconds and put the new key in and see if it programs the key anyway. Maybe your truck just has a 'brain fart' during the key swaps.
It sounds like the system is not reading one of keys. I hate to say it but you may need to have the dealer check it.
