I am looking to replace my hub assemblies soon. All of the local parts stores carry the same thing basically: two different MOOG hubs. Even their website says two models will fit. Part numbers 515126 and 515113. How do I know which one is right?
I think my hub assembly needs to be replaced. I notice it the faster I drive. When turning left the steering wheel vibrates very noticeably. Turning right it is fine. Would this be the right hub? I jacked up the truck and tried moving the wheel, grabbing at 12 and 6 - no movement. However from 9 and 3 o'clock, there is indeed movement. Suggestions?
If it is the entire wheel bearing/hub it should have play all around the clock. Just 9 to 3 is most likely a inner or outer tie rod. Is this a 1500? If it is independent suspension and you jack it up from the frame and not the control arm it is also possible that it could be a ball joint with play from just 9 to 3, because of the geometry. To really pin point the play in the front end you need two people unless you can stick your head in there as you are checking for play.
