help me price these out.
i have a set of treadwrights 285/75/16 load D. about 1000 miles or one season on them. glazed them up and put them in storage before winter. they held air for six months. about one half inch of tread/ 12mil, i expect to see 40,000 miles out of these.
treads & rims, mounted and balanced ready to bolt on and GO!
Can you tell me what they are worth?
I figure about half of what the tires cost new, people are affraid of buying used tires because they dont know what they have been thru and in general they dont trust the seller to be honest about why they are selling thier almost new tires. The rims may add about a nother $100 to pot.
i need the money though! yes almost new. and i'm selling them cause i want mud terrains. and 285s just look a tad too large.
just throw me a number fellas and give me a little reasoning behind it.
thanxs
$550? Reasoning is new all terrain tires run about $150 each new. The wheels are worth maybe $50 each?
I sold a set of four BFG 33" mud terrains on the same style wheel for $350, that was 5 or so years ago tho.
I can only speak for myself so I know that for me that would be too much, I personally would spend a little more and get the tires from a tire store in case I have issues with them.
I say this knowing that I need new tires right now but am trying to hold out for a couple more months before buying some, so I'm not some one saying what I think while running good tires on my truck. Good luck with the sale.
I wouldn't pay $800. If I was going to pay $800 I would just buy new ones. I think you are going to be giving the rims and fifth tire away for free. In my mind I wouldn't pay more than $400. They look like nice tires, but someone is taking a gamble. No one takes a gamble without the payoff. I paid $25 for a chrome dodge ram rim from the junkyard. It was in perfect shape. No way I would pay $75 a piece for used rims.
Put them on craigs list. if you don't get any hits, go down with the price.
I just had to put new tires on my Ram 6 months ago and it came out to just under $1k for some Faulken 35s (34 measured).
If I could have found some like you have for about $600 or so I would have went for it.
Used tires just don't have big value. Unknown age, unknown use/abuse regardless of tread depth, and many times there's a chance they are stolen.
I know none of this applies to your tires, but that's the stigma you'll have to overcome.
If somebody starts sniffing around in the $500 range, snap it up.
I'd also say about $500 is the max you could expect, but wouldn't hurt to start at $650 and jew your way down from there. You might luck out and find the right guy at the right time who is looking for just something like these and has gone into sticker shock pricing them new.
Starting at $800 may hurt your chances, fewer bites and you'll get chronically lowballed anyhow.
