103,000 on my 2006 3.8 GC. Seems to be a groaning coming from the drive pulley area. I replaced the belt in Oct 2011. Other than this the vehicle runs fine. Do you think it is possible the belt is bad already? Vehicle does not get driven on a daily basis. Maybe 2-3x a week. ANy help, Thanks.

Does it happen more aggressively under load? A/C or in gear?

Nearly all new drive belts these days are 150,000 mile/5 year items. So it is doubtful the belt is bad.
I would start by disconnecting the battery and taking the belt off, then spin each pulley by hand. Usually the culprit will stand out and if not I would then take a look at the tensioner. If your not to confident in repairing cars just take it to a good mechanic. Good luck! |

Probably the alternator going bad. Mine did the same thing. I thought it was the power steering pump starving for fluid. Changed the reservoir and the hose for nothing.

Good day, might want to check the belt tensioner pully, can cause that type of noise when bad.
