I read on another forum about folks running their CTD's around town using the manual gear selector to limit their top gear and keep in higher RPM's.

Personally, I use tow/haul mode when running around town. Since I've never had the option of limiting my gear range before, what's your take on this? Do you do this for short trips or city driving? Would it help more for stock trucks as opposed to those with deletes?

I have the H&S Overdrive tune which helps keep the RPM's up so the engine isn't lugging. Also reduces a lot of unnecessary shifting. On top of that, I have the gear selector set on 4 or 5, depending on which speeds I'm driving at.

I've been doing a lot more experimenting, and 4 seems to be my go to as far as using the ERS. Where are your RPMs usually at? I try and keep mine above 1500, but less than 2k until I'm up at operating temps.

H&S overdrive keeps the RPM's up around 1,500. Usually wont shift gears until 1,800 RPM under light acceleration.

I rarely get over 2,500 RPM. Unlike my Hemi, I don't need much rpm to get power, love it.

Speeds vary, 20-35/40mph on base. Off-base anywhere from 40-60/65.
