Well, after much thought and research I decided to go with a replacement changer unit from Replacement Radios. $100 + a $50 refundable core deposit for the old changer and my order was placed. The first unit they shipped did not work. The second one arrived yesterday and I installed it this evening. So far, so good. I have CD quality sound again! Install is a breeze. If you can get the radio out of the dash, you can handle the rest. Just remember to get any CD's out of the old unit first. I remembered after I was about done that I had left an old Steely Dan CD in the bum unit and had to reinstall it so I could eject it. The new unit has a 6 month warranty on it. Not very long on my opinion but better than I'd get on a used radio I guess. Considering a new radio was ~$400+ I figure it's worth a try.

While I realize this is an older thread, count me in as a member of the crapped out RAQ 6 CD changer club.
I also went to Replacementradios.com who replaced the 6 CD unit, and got the radio back to me in a 3 day period! Radio shipped out on this past Tuesday, I sent it UPS. They recieved AND repaired it Wednesday, and shipped it out the same day. UPS delivered it Thursday, and so far I am a happy camper. The bill was $125 plus $5 to extract my 6 CD's from the old changer. They give a 6 month warranty which I also like. Don

Both my old 6-Disk and my current single disk work fine still (knock on wood), if anyone has a broken radio I'd be willing to sell one of my 6-disks (RAQ) as two do me no good.

I have an 04 Limited that has refused to play or eject any CD, actually it will play CD slot #1 but that's it. I currently have 6 CDs being held hostage though. Good times!

Just got off 7 1/2 month cruise and mine is just a radio now, no cd player.

My 6-disc died in my 04 the other day. I have the Rear DVD-VES and would like to retain functionality of that. I could care less about having the CD changer. So my question is this-- Is there a factory unit compatible with my 04-VES combination that offers a single disc and an auxillary input? Any advice would be appreciated.

I am very happy with my new JVC HD head unit, I just play MP3 on shuffle, all is good.

I have the same issue, with my 04 Durango Limited. 6 CD changer, with no Rear DvD player.
6 disc CD changer always worked fine. One morning I came out to my car, and the battery was dead. After jumping the car, I discovered the the CD function no longer worked. Every time I enter the vehicle, the CD changer turns on, and makes noise like it's changing CD's. You can't even select the CD option. The radio itself works fine. Sucks not having a CD player, or a AUX port for a MP3 player. |
