Think I might want a turbo now lol?

Now I know you gotta crawl before you walk, but after reading little yellows thread, its got me thinking, that maybe I want to run 3-4 pounds of boost. What site could I find a turbo kit ready to bolt on and weld up the new piping.
Also what kind of things would I have to change to my new block that I just built? Not looking for the worlds biggest turbo, just something thats just enough to put some more pep in my step, figured save money turboing instead of having more block work done to my old block and making a stroker, that id just turbo instead.

the sts are good kits. run remote mount so you dont have to worry about building from the headers up.
and with long tubes your not gonna be able to do a front mount. but depending on how or where you drive a rear mount is gonna get covered in mud and salt and all that good stuff. engine wise it will be fine for 3-4. i have read tons of boosted dodges on a completely stock engine on 10lb for daily driving and have no issues minus the keg plate leaking.

hm...well if I put the turbo on I probably won't mud it, but it will be going into the sand at silver Lake Michigan, but for salt this bad boy will be stored in the winter here now that I have some good looking parts and body work is on its way.
Thanks for the help I didnt see a direct fit for my year truck, just says the hemi models....I would assume those will fit on mine?

your going to have to get a universal kit and make it to fit.
they dont make a bolt on for our year of trucks through those. i cant remember who i found one through, but it cam with headers and all the piping. was a direct bolt on kit for about 4500. no injectors or tuner tho.

I would start a good conversation with yellow about it, and follow his build exactly. Then modify from there.
I would also recommend studding the heads, and using better gaskets/bolts for the intake side of the motor, and run as much boost as you feel safe LOL But I like to push stuff hard, so listen to yellow first.

well put mike lol.
from all the research i did, you can run 7lb factory stock engine. then your going to lose head gaskets. after head gaskets you can go to 10lb, then its the intake plate, which we all know is garbage anyway lol. with you having the hughes and aftermarket headgaskets, i would hope felpro, you should be good for 10-12 depending on you compression ratio. the whole bottom end of these engines is forged, so it is super strong. its the heads and pistons that you have to be concerned with. i dont know alot about the iron ram heads. so i cant verify the quality compared to the factory ones, i would assume that they are much better then factory. i was looking into ARP heads for the future of mine. its not about how much boost you can cram into the engine either. you need that thing to breathe. and the way you have done yours im thinking you should be good to 10lb no problem..... minus the trans lol. and think, average pound of boost makes between 10-15hp. so 10 could be another 150 crank hp. which is amazing for the reliability of a turbo system.

not saying you would cut corners or be cheap. but make sure you look well into what your getting.
holset is a super reliable turbo and 90% of people you talk to would pick that over a ball bearing garrett. there near indestructible. and with our low egt compared to a diesel that thing is in heaven on a gasser. you can cheap out on a few things. but for the wastegte blow off valve a/f ratio and boost gauge. get something good. gauges will save you if something happens. have to monitor that money you spent wastegate to control boost levels. and something that wont seize under heat. i looked alot into mine. dont even think about ebay for a wastegate lol. tial, turbonetics, turbosmart or synapse are good examples. bov can be a little cheaper. i got a ebay one to get started. but same brands for those are good. also RFL is good. lots of forums on this stuff. research what your getting. and remember 5$ here could be 5000 there.

So when/if I do this, I'd need pistons, built heads, studs for the heads, I'd make my own intake using the stock one, injectors and pump, shorty's, mild cam, and try for 25-30psi from a 67mm LOL

Yeah......I was looking at kits from summit, running about 2 grand, these sites you guys are posting are asking like 4500 for the kit......I ain't got that kinda money lol. Wasn't expecting it to be that much
