Torque Converter

Ordered a TC from APS Precision. Talked to Wayne and it should show up next week. I know most people go with Circle D or Edge but something steered me towards the APS. They seemed to have the most technical information available which led me to believe they deliver the best product.

I will definately give a full report once it's in the truck.

Off topic, but how are you liking the vararam intake?

I cheated and updated my sig while the Vararam sits in a box in my spare room. I won't have a chance to install it until this weekend.

APS has a great STR that really launches a heavy truck with ease.

A very true statement! Only I can't launch....I just spin. Wish I could hook. It sure does make it fun for screwing around, but stinks for racing (unless I can find a way to hook-up).

Maynard77- I do think you will like your tq. converter. I really enjoy mine. It certainly added to the fun factor. Yes, please let us know! I am wanting to do the same to my 12 2500. I have read a lot of post on what is does for the 1500's, but I haven't seen anything on the 4th gen 2500's...... What stall speed did you go with?

My Rusty 99, I read your review on that other post and that's what turned me on to APS. I'm hoping with a heavier truck on 35's that I won't have the same traction issues you are having. I don't race my truck, just love better performance and after having Randy's R&P put the 4.56's in the truck, this seemed like the next logical step.

I've been thinking about pulling the trigger for about a year. The deciding factor was getting on-line and drunk at the same time, voila, TC ordered.

Will do. Us Hemi 2500 guys are the bastard children of the Ram brand. Not as much popularity as the 1500's or the Cummins trucks. I have not seen a report on a 2500 Hemi TC installation either. Hopefully the converter gets in next week and I can get an appointment scheduled for installation the following week.

The stall should be between 2400-2600. I didn't ask for a specific stall, I just gave them my trucks info, what the truck was used for and let the professionals do the rest.

Any updates?

My co-worker told me to call these guys and order one since this is the place he got his for 96 Mustang running high 9s in the 1/4.

Just was not too sure since I did not see anyone else running this brand.

I've had the TC for two weeks now but between work, holiday BS and the salmon derby I haven't had a chance to schedule the install. I will shoot for next week.

OK, I finally have my installation scheduled. Drop it off next Wednesday, pick it up Thursday. I will post a full report by Friday evening.

I'm ready for it. I think this my next mod.

Just out of curiosity, what are they charging for the install?

I talked to the guy the other day on installing a TC in my 4x4 and he said around $300.

My install + bench time is going to be around 1K. I am getting the trans-go shift kit put in at the same time. I could probably get it done cheaper somewhere else but this shop was reccomended to me and the owner is a great guy and I know he will stand by his work. Same reason I took my truck to Randy's R&P for my 4.56 gear install.

Wow that's a 4x mark-up from what I paid.....mine was done in a high performance truck shop as well.

I've been running a 2800 stall for several years from APS in my Dakota R/T. I have not had one drop of trouble with it.
