Wanda has always had the pump mounted a belt's width ahead of the flywheel pulley (5/16"?). Not a problem until last night when the belt came off on the highway.

I've looked at it before and it's not a matter of washers or spacers. The bracket for the bump has a factory offset that moves the pump forward. I'm thinking I have the wrong bracket. If the bracket was flat the pulley would appear to line up. Any thoughts or pictures would help.

Question, at the top bolt there is a bracket between the bracket and the block. Should it be in that order?

Or are their likely to be spacers between the pump and the pulley?

Also in the picture it looks like the bracket bends forward a bit at the the bottom. In real life I think it is straight (vertical) (other than the offset).

maybe the crank should have two pulleys or it could be the wrong pump??? I check orielly's site and they show two different pumps for your truck

My old 318 had a quad crank pulley setup on it. 2 for main belts and one is for power steering, one is empty, if I recall correctly.

The 2 pumps they list are the same for a 225, 318 & 360. I'll check and see if they have different bracket to pulley lengths.

The belt came off again so I replaced it and took a (quick) closer look.

I think the bracket is a little bit bent so that the pulley angels towards the radiator. The outside (fender side) of the pulley is on a plane with the crankshaft pulley groove.

I'm wondering if I could shim it back with an extra couple of washers? I don't think I could twist it back into straight w/o heat or a press. Might look for a used one too. Something to consider this weekend.

I had to "shim" an alternator bracket on my Jeep with washers. It worked well. Not perfect, but it reduced the stress on the belt and the bearings in the alternator.

It's holding so far with a new belt and a bit tighter. Not much to lever against except the headers, the pump reservoir and it's bolted into/through the water pump and block.

I think taking it ff and using a persuader might be better. But I'm really hoping one comes up on eBay.

If you can get it in a vice and use a torch, that would be better than hammering/cold-bending. When you hammer and bend metal when it's cold, it's waaaaayyyyyy more likely to crack/fail...
