BTW- when they are blinking on/off like that in the video, its because they have been on too long! They are running over temperature at that point and should really be shut-off to avoid damage. Normally you'd never have them on nearly as long of course, but even for the sake of capturing the amazing beauty of the light output we'd suggest letting them cool off first!

Hmmm... this thread died out? Well, WAKE UP, THREAD!!!!

Just looking for MORE lights for my '04! Absolutely LOVE the 55W HID kits from Retro-Solutions, (wow, sounds like a Promotional?) so now I'm looking for stop/tail/turn LED's. I really wish I didn't have to solder in resistors? But more on that research later.

As for these 5W CREE's... I need some of those!!! For the reverse and cargo. But, before I do, (since the thread died a few months ago) anyone have anymore feedback on theirs?

Any photos of nighttime backing? Any side view lighting with these, or is it all rearward?

Yes!!! You ARE Correct about having a Holiday Sale, Voodoo!!! That'd be Friggin AWESOME!!!

I've researched, read, searched, researched some more, experimented, testlighted, and just about covered every base I can, and it seems the RetroSolutions CREE are the bulbs to get for back-up (reverse, whatever you wanna call em!) lights out there!

AND, seems the going concensus is getting a set of 912 (T15 LED) for cargo/third brake is also necessary.

Now, since this thread died and maybe a little "recent CPR" is reviving it, MAYBE Retro will offer a Sale? I know early on in this thread, the "DODGE" code didn't apply to LED's and the supply/demand issues held them back from it...

But maybe RetroSanta is listening?

OK, RetroSolutions... I know you're busy, but maybe asnwering this question for me will answer it for others?

I know installing the CREE Cargo bulbs will help light up everything behind me. (According to the pics I've seen!) But, is it recommended to use those SAME bulbs in the 3rd brake light sockets as well?

In other words, IF I was to swap all my rear bulbs for LED's (i.e. Brake/Trun/Tail, Reverse, Cargo AND 3 Brake (CHMSL) bulbs) would I need to purchase, AT LEAST 6 CREE bulbs? I'd need 4 for the CHMSL housing and 2 for the reverse minimum.

That is going to get REALLY expensive!!!? At about $40 each (assuming that's PAIR?) I'm looking at $120 for 6 bulbs?? The wife will CRAP if I spend that much!!!

No no, you really do not want to do that. The CREE bulbs are for reverse and the cargo lamps only really. Other fixtures and functions, the red or amber color bulbs are needed for better color and less loss from filtering the other wavelengths of light. Also, you do not want to have the light all rearward facing for some of those functions, as it cuts out visibility to other drivers and would be blindly bright to those directly behind. Not really ideal as you can imagine.

Any suggestions on third brake bulbs? When I DO finally get all the white bulbs replaced to LED, the "red ones" are next. Can't have partial LED, partial incandescent...

Well, if you can bear to wait a bit, we are working on models for red and amber lights as well. Different functions, different requirements for performance, etc..... but they are in the works

It would be nice to have the 3rd brake light that strobes when you put the brakes on.

There are modules that do this you can custom wire in. The problem with bulbs that do that is the ever increasing number of vehicles that monitor the circuit load for bulb out, they tend to not like blinking bulbs so much.

I can't be certain, but I don't think 3rd brake light on a Ram is monitored..? Reason I say that, is I see too many Dodges with 1 if not both 3rd brake lights out when they stop.

Well no, on the Ram... up to current models, the 3rd brake lamp may not be monitored. Thing is we do not sell just to Dodge Ram owners.

Future CREE bulbs will be temperature compensated, but not existing models quite yet. They will compensate for heat from any source as well, not just their own. Although the strobes should not make too much heat unless on for a considerable amount of time.

Regardless if you sell to the OTHER vehicles, Dodges and RAMS in particular need your LIGHTS!
