Easy poll here fellas and gals. Basically, are you happy with the 5.7L or the 6.7L in your heavy duty, or, do you wish you had the other engine (aka wishing had the CTD instead of the Hemi or vice-versa)? If you feel, please explain why.

I'm about 70/30 on being happy with "Hemi and happy" and "should've gotten the Cummins." I love my Power Wagon, but there are times when I really wish I had the Cummins.

I voted Hemi and happy. However, I do wish my Hemi was a little quieter. I'm not talking Hemi tick either, I'm talking Hemi marbles in can rattling and a cold startup knock (piston slap maybe) that sounds like a diesel. Performance wise though I'm satisfied.

I feel the performance from the Hemi is adequate for my current use and I avoided the new Cummins so as not to deal with engine/emission's related problems some were having. That said, I loved my 2004 Cummins powered 2500 and while the overall truck was not as nice as my 2010 that 305/555 Cummins was stone cold reliable.

I am happy with my Hemi about 95% of the time. That other 5% is when I'm doing any substantial towing. Don't get me wrong, the hemi does a pretty good job, and I'm sure with the 66rfe in my new truck it will do even better, but there is no comparison to the cummins when towing.
I am slowly getting tired of the hemi in my work truck though. I need to convince my boss of the benefits of a 3500 cummins for my next truck. I put minimum 300km on the truck every day with about a 3000lb load 100% of the time. Plus, I regularly haul trailers that are 5-9k lbs. I'll probably get another year out of this truck, so I've got a bit of time left to do some convincing.

That Hemi 2500 was a waste of my time and money. It was ok until I started using it for work. Just driving around town it was ok.
There should definitely be a Hemi option in the HD. Lots of people have them and they are fine. Just not in my case.

I love my Hemi. I'd say about 85-15. For what I do its perfect, mostly to and from work. This is my first HD truck as well. I would have loved to get the CTD but no real use for it. But, whenever I see a guy go past with a loud Cummins, makes me want one!

When I still had my 2500 Hemi it was more than enough for me as a "Part time Tower." If I ever got a gooseneck and it was over the 1500 capacities I will get another 2500 Hemi. That being said I will always take a Cummins if the price is right and only drawbacks being just too short of a distance to work and back (4 miles each way) and not enough towing imo to justify.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Halligan, I wish you luck. I'm glad I'm seeing some similarities with some of you. I would like a CTD, but have no real need for one. I figure I can save a couple of bones with the hemi option when I order my 2013 mega. Besides, I'm not going to lie, it'll be a daily driver more than heavy hauler.

I'm about 60/40 for the Hemi...
I do some long distance driving (Drive to Edmonton about once a month 1200km round trip) and at those times I wish I had it, but otherwise I love my HEMI

Hemi and happy here. I came to the 2500 Hemi from a Duramax and initially I was dissapointed but after I upgraded the stock 3.73 gears to 4.56's I have been extremely happy.
![]() This is my daily driver to, from and for work but I rarely tow, maybe 5 times in a 1.5 years. If I was towing on a regular basis I would have went with the CTD. Now I have to make my appointment to get this APS TC and Trans-go shift kit installed for the final touches. ![]() Rich

Happy with the hemi. Same as several on here. If I towed heavy alot ,it would be a cummins hands down. This is my second hemi in a HD. Had Cummins before & both are a Great motor .
