BBK Shorty Headers - Update

interested to see when these come up. im in no hurray. will likely not be buying till the spring.

Any updates??

The last update was that they are now set to ship on or around November 20th.

I havent spoken to them since they told me the 20th, so nothing new yet. I dont expect them to be available until the end of the month.

That was the latest ETA they gave me as well. I pulled them off the site until they are in stock and ready to ship. I plan to call them again on the 7th to confirm that they are ready.

Lol... Another 2 weeks type of deal huh. I think they shot them self in the foot on this one, soon JBA will have their long tubes out.

It is taking them a long time to get these released, but they are still going to be a great option for a fraction of the cost of longtubes. The JBA's are going to run around $1000 after you add the y-pipe and cats, so a $400 set of coated shorties starts to sound really nice for the guys that arent looking to squeeze every last hp out of their motor.

Oh wow, about a grand huh. I thought I read about 700 for headers w/cats.

JBA's 4th gen coated shorties cost more than $600, so I highly doubt they are going to add 2 high flow cats, a full y-pipe, o2 sensor extensions, and the extra clamps needed for only $100.

All JBA Long tubes run $499-599 for the Long tubes, gaskets and hardware. The stainless Y-Pipe for the Hemi will run 250-450 depending on if you want High flow cats or not. Shorty headers are much more expensive to produce as you have much more welding time for assembly then Long Tubes.

The shorties cost more to build than long tubes and we have to pay thousands of $$$ to get them 50 State approved - CARB tested. That is why other brands are less as they are not 50 State legal. You have many tight compound bends with a shorty that need to be fitted and welded vs 4 full tubes that come straight down and get put in a collector. Materials are not the main cost in headers.

So would a Y pipe be needed still if I'm running DI/DO muffler?

Not if you run true duals with custom mid pipes straight off the collectors to the muffler.

That's the cheapest way to go.

It's actually 13 states + the DOC right now, all states by 2016.

Make sure you know the emissions laws before posting as many other states have adopted CARB and you will see more in the future.

Who's running these and how do they like them?

BBK only made 30 sets on the initial run. We have 12 sets on order that are supposed to be shipping to us 1 day next week. There should be more feedback once these start shipping out.
