Once again not much progress - this week is full of getting things ready for camping. I hooked up the water feed to the camper and found the valve on the toilet was leaking, $30 later and I had that fixed yesterday, along with a broken door knob.

I am SUPER PISSED because my nice new Track Bar arrived yesterday and when I attempted to get it mounted up (just holding it in place) my Plow Frame is completely in the way. I can't upgrade to the 3rd gen style track bar which sucks. This thing is VERY VERY NICE and I'm very upset I can't use it because I can tell it would've solved my issues. Now I'm stuck with the crappy stock design/moog "upgrade".

Also sucks that I have to pay shipping to send it back but thats not their fault. Regardless I definitely recommend Spohn Performance for a Track Bar, its built very very well, and their customer service is amazing!
what is it about the track bar system that dont fit. is it the bar or the bracket?

Its the bracket. It goes on the left frame rail by the coil bucket, my bracket/frame for my plow extend's all the way up there and blocks where I would bolt the bracket on to.

Not a problem I'll let you know.

In the meantime, I picked up a 1997 12 valve wiring harness for the engine and am searching for a 1998 PCM at the moment. I'm contemplating picking up another V10 computer and seeing if my tech can flash it to a 1998 12Valve computer so that it works with the 47RE transmission. I'll let you all know how that plays out. I'm really wanting this to be a clean, stock looking and running swap meaning no CEL's, no splicing, no mickey mouse jobs.

Oh yeah, I also picked up a steering box brace and a Moog track bar. I'm going to remove my "new" steering box (made by Fenco from Advance Auto Parts) and return it for another to hopefully get rid of my binding issue's tonight.

I'll try to snap pics for you guys.

WOO HOOO sorry for the multiple posts but I just scored a 1998 PCM for a great deal, this all coming together perfectly!

Now if I can find some gauges this thing will look and run like it came from the factory!

Find a wiring diagram for the years around that and check and see if they are the same pinouts for the PCM. I guarantee there's a few years that are the same.

I really want to swap out my 1500 axles, but apparently I will need to weld in new spring pockets. Otherwise front is a bolt-in. Might have to bring it to a shop with a 220 welder to have them do that, then just bolt everything up.

What ratio were the 2500/3500 axles from factory?

From what I've figured from my research I should be able to use any from 04-08. However 04 was only the second year for the hemi and they have some tuning problems with them which is not really good with the cam I want to put in. Then in 06 they changed to the canbus computer system meaning I'd have to figure out some way to get some gauges working. 05 is the one I want because they aren't bad for tuning and I have a set of 02 Dakota gauges that should fit right in my truck and run off of the 05 computer.

Heh yeah I was they same way with V10 swaps when I was in AIT. I had nothing better to do on the weekends. I thought it was out of reach, money wise, then gas kept going up and wah lah, no one wants their 10cyl gas guzzler anymore, got the whole parts truck for $1900. Not only a V10, but a manual too!! hot diggity!

Of course I might have not done it if I had known about the CCD swap in '98. I was on the fence about it anyway.

I'm only going to swap the axles if the donor trucks axles are 3.55's for better fuel mileage and keeping the RPMs down on the highway. Otherwise I'm keeping the v10 axles because they are in great shape.

i want to suggest shackles from here. bolt on! pop the rivets out and use the holes for grade 8 bolts. just buy the 3" wide for the 2500 truck. with a 2" lift system you could eliminate the rear block= less leaf wrap when you kit the skinny pettle. less need for ladder bars.

and maybe the universal joints might be a trick going from the 1500 d-shaft to the 2500 axle. these guys can make custom axle yokes/ custom u-joints/ or customize the d-shaft, which ever way you want to go!

Quick question for you guys. On my truck it has the overload springs on the back (add a leaf looking springs mounted above the rear springs) which I'm assuming are factory since they look that way.

Anyway, every truck I've seen with overload springs, has perches on the frame that the spring should hit when the load is heavy, thus using the overload spring to help with the weight. Well my truck doesn't have any perches on the frame? Is this normal or should there be perches?

Nothing about the overload springs? Anyways replaced my steering box and all was well until I got to the campsite. While backing the trailer up I lost all power steering again. Stressed beyond belief I was able to get my camper into its spot and immediatly jumped online and bought a borgeson steering box. Although now that I'm doing more research I believe one of my steering lines or pump is clogged. The fluid is perfect level, there are no leaks, and the truck still steers which leads me to believe the pump is clogged. I plan on getting a turkey baster and sucking the pump out to see if it doesn't get it out.

I DO plan on pulling the 12 valve next weekend so I can start getting everything ready.
