Need some help/advice/information. Looking at a 94 5.2 Ext cab 286K mi. Guy selling it is apparently honest ans straight forward. Truck has rebuilt eng w/receipts, some other goodies. His ad states that the truck runs fine in cold/cool weather but warmer/hot days it shuts off. No info on when it restarts. He has been told it is the coolant temp sender which will run $400 to fix. Have checked napa etc and no sensor/sender listed so it must be a mopar part. Truck has the same jet chip my 92 has and mine does'nt like the cold. Any thoughts? Looking at my 92 there seems to be 2, i assume one for the guage and one for the brains. I don't want to insult the guy or chisel him. Truck has had some money spent on it, drop spindles, roll pan, custom exhaust w/gibson headers and so on. just don't want to get into a mega fix. Thanks in advance for any input.

The Jet Chips for the Dakotas are crap. Trash it on yours and the new one. For the same amount of money you could of gotten a Mopar High Performance Computer/PCM.
Yes there is 2 sensors. Like you said one with 1 wire for the gauge one with 2 wire for the PCM. Its only $15 or so. Napa does have it I just checked. I say buy it if it is a good price. Pay then pull off the Jet Chip module and drive it home. |

did you get your stall problem fingered out? PCM was one issue as it overheated, another issue was the fuel pump overheating.
