2011 journey crash test

My Journeys air bags did not deploy in a recent accident. The car was hit from behind at a stop light and pushed into the back of the vehicle in front of it. Could the fact that it was stopped at the light be a reason why they may not have deployed? Damage looks to be bad enough for the car to be a write off, not an air bag expert just currious.

Probably wasn't enough force at impact to trigger the airbags. And if they had it probably would be consider a total loss. Just replacing the airbags, dash and windshield can be $6K-$7K. Coworker had a Pilot that had the airbags go off in an accident - total damage was over $13K and more than half that was the airbags, dash, windshield and other related items.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to have the sensors be impacted at a certain rate of speed and not sure if still the case but more then one sensor must be tripped at the time of impact. The sensors might have been actuated but not fast enough. hope you are ok.
