I have a new project to paint. The owner of this swears this is a factory removable top. I wasn't aware of this being factory and can not locate something that is..
Is this really factory?

if it is a ram charger then yes. i know the ram chargers had removable hard top before 81 sometime but i don;t know exact years but it does look like that truck has been modified from stock.

See, those are the phots I am finding.
This one does have some custom work done to it. But the doors are way different.. I think this was a normal truck and basically they made it look this way.

the doors are not that different. they just cut part of it off. it does appear that a fair bit of custom work has been done to it but is is still looks like a ramcharger to me. without the back seet it would look like a truck. the floor of the bed looks identical

looks like a ramcharger or trailduster to me. they just cut the window channels of the doors and put "sport" mirrors on from a older muscle car

If my memory serves, only a few early `74`s had the window frames on the doors cut from the factory - they had filler pieces that fit into the top for the windows... I looked into it many years ago, because I constantly hit my head on the upper window channels on my `74 Trailduster - but only when the top is off!?! Plus, I always thought the upper channels looked goofy w/ the top off. I have looked for years to find a factory donor for the top and doors, no go. I have seen the factory setup, it has these goofy caps where they cut the frames at the bottom, above the door handle - pretty butch for factory! I don`t know how many times I`ve come home after driving with the top off, havin givin my noggin a floggin, and looked whistfully at the sawzall... I think I may have even had it in my hands once or twice! Who knows, if I ever re-body the `74 I probably will perform the "amputation"... Right now, the body mounts have pretty much all rusted away - about the only thing holding the body on is hoses, wiring, t-case shifter and gravity!
