How about a restriction in your fuel line? Sometimes if you crimp a line, it will allow fuel to come through at a reduced rate and pressure but when there is no demand for the downstream side of the restriction, the fuel/liquid will continue to flow past the obstruction/crimp until the pressure equalizes on both side of it.

When you eliminate the demand (ie, you shut the truck off), the fuel has a chance to equalize.

I thiink he is saying his problem is just the oposite. It is hard to start, but once it does everything is fine. A fuel restriction or low pressure situation would get worse as the fuel needs increase.

Sounds like leaking fuel injectors to me. That's why once it starts it's good until you let it sit for a while again.

I misread his original statement.

What about a the built-in check valve in the fuel pump leaking and allowing the fuel to bleed back in the tank?

Without know what kind of fuel pressure that he is getting, it hard to diagnose the problem
