I'm thinking of switching to Duralast products, for the convenience and ease of warranty returns. I replaced my entire front end with Moog parts in May of 07. Since then I replace both lower ball joint (torn boots), left inner tie rod and the right outer tie rod. Today I did my pre-winter inspection, which showed I need to replace the idler arm and the right inner tie rod. All of the parts are Moog, is their quality going down? I don't go offroading, although some consider driving through NY potholes is like going offroading. The Moog parts were ordered through Rockauto and come with a lifetime warranty. All parts have or will be replaced. Which means the truck would down until the parts arrive and are installed. I have some spare parts which will keep me on the road, but 2yrs on Moog parts I might as well use Duralast. I can change them every 2yrs if need be and if they last longer it would be a plus. I do my own work, so labor charges don't apply. If you were me, what would you do?

I had all 4 ball joints changed with Moogs almost exactly 2 years ago, and maybe 15k miles. While changing my shocks this weekend, I found on one of the lowers the bottom of the boot has come completely off the joint and the other one is torn...... not happy. My front end is very loose and wanders all over. I have replaced the steering column, intermediate shaft, rebuilt rack, and Moog outer rod ends. I was beginning to suspect control arm bushings next, and do have polyurethanes to put in eventually, but I'm wondering if its not ball joints failing again.......

I had my Moogs installed by my local Dodge dealer. If Moog products have a lifetime warranty, how would I go about getting them replaced??

I was debating on buying some Moog parts when my OE's wore out again. I don't think Chrysler would cover a warranty for the third time, but it might be the charm. If Moog only last a couple years, I'm almost better off buying no name brand at the parts counter. OE ball joints last me an average of four years or 50K for the uppers and lowers I'm still on the first set.

Moog lower ball joint boots are weak and wear out quick. They don't replace boots, they replace the whole ball joint. It would be good if they made boots that last or just send replacement boots. It's less work to just replace the boot, you don't need a ball joint press. Their lifetime warranty is good, they'll replace them as long as you need them. Brad, the Idler arm boot was completely missing and it had so much play it was ridiculous.

So do I call Moog directly then and they'll send me replacements? I really don't want to go back to the dealer......

Yes, I would give them a call. When I called them about the boots, they said send them back to the place of purchase for warranty replacement. Did you purchase them yourself or did the dealer provide and install them. For Moog to replace them you may have to remove them and send them in. I brought mine from rock auto, so I just purchased a new pair and when I sent the old ones back I received my money back. That way my truck wouldn't be down while waiting for replacements. I hope you still have the receipt, let me now how it goes. If you have to purchase a new pair, send me a private message first.
