Can anyone explain how to find and replace the EGR Valve. I own an 05 4.7 V8 1500 and wish to repalce this part due to a check engine light.

Any help is appreciated. Pics would be a plus! :)

From my '05 FSM:

REMOVAL
4.7L Engine
The electronic EGR valve and solenoid assembly
is attached to the rear of the left cylinder head. An
exhaust gas routing tube connects the EGR valve
to the intake manifold.

1. Remove electrical connector at top of EGR
valve solenoid.
2. Remove tube mounting bolt at intake manifold.
3. Remove two bolts connecting EGR tube to
valve assembly.
4. Remove gasket located between EGR tube flange
and EGR valve assembly.
5. Remove two EGR valve mounting bolts.
6. Separate valve assembly from engine.
7. Remove and discard metal gasket located between
cylinder head and valve assembly.

INSTALLATION
4.7L Engine
1. Clean area at rear of left cylinder head where it
joins base of EGR valve.
2. Clean EGR tube where it joins EGR valve.
3. Position new gasket between EGR valve and cylinder
head.
4. Position EGR valve to cylinder head. Install and
tighten two bolts. Refer to Torque Specifications.
5. Position new gasket between EGR tube flange and
EGR valve assembly.
6. Position EGR tube to side of EGR valve and
into intake manifold. Install two bolts finger tight
(temporarily).
7. Install EGR tube flange bolt at intake manifold.
Tighten bolt. Refer to Torque Specifications.
8. Connect electrical connector to top of EGR
valve solenoid.
9. Do a final tightening of two EGR tube bolts.
Refer to Torque Specifications.

I don't see any torque specs, though. Hope this helps.

nine inch what engine do you have

I've done it twice (once on mine and the other on a buddies). Both times were on the 5.7. It was a pretty easy job. Only takes about 15-20 minutes.

Damn, I did my plugs today but was not brave enough to tackle on this job while I had the Intake off. The EGR valve is really back in the compartment, I can barely make it out. Is it really that easy to change? I wish someone had pics of this, would really help.

I bought a Haynes repair Manual and the freaking thing doesnt even mention the EGR valve. What gives??

Sup, So I have yet to do this job. I just don't know how to get all the way back in the compartment to reach the EGR valve. It's practically hidden on the 4.7 Magnum Engine.

And I know HEMI owners have it alot easier, lucky fockers!

As far as the EGR valve on the 4.7 does anyone have any pics, maybe i'm not looking in the right place. I don't want to pay a mechanic when I know I can probably change it myself, but I truly need some help! Please!:worthy:
