When i installed my pioneer nav unit the illumination was fine it work like it was designed bright with headlights off dim with them on. After having my DRL's activated when i had my fogs activated it is doing what it is supposed to do which is in the daytime when the DRL's are on my screen is dim and hard to see. Basically is there anyway to bypass that in the radio wiring harnes with the illumination wire without having the dealer turn the DRL's off and charging me for an hour of labor.

I'm almost positive that the orange wire coming from the head unit is the illumination wire

You wouldn't be able to dim the head unit. I've never used that feature

So basically from doing a little research it seems if i disconnect it it just wont dim when the lights are on. Is that what you're referring to?

That or find a 12 volt rheostat and wire it in to that line. That way you could adjust it however bright you want.

Thanks guys but after going through the hundreds of options i finally found a way to adjust the brightness and there was a dimmer on/off button as well.

I dont like dim lights. Thats why I have HIDs and wheel lights ;)

Other than that, no real reason.

You do not have to use every wire on a harness just because they are there
