P0720 Output Speed Sensor malfunction

Just stopped by AutoZone and had the check engine light trouble code read. Lists it as P0720 Malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for the output speed sensor. Any help in how to fix would be greatly appreciated

Output Speed Sensor, Or Output Turbon Sensor. If It Is The Speed Sensor Then It Is Located On Top Your Rear Diff. Held On With A Couple Bolts And One Bracket Then Pops Right Out. Careful When Taking It Out Because They Are Easy To Break, Then Its A Bitch To Get Out. Cost About 40-50 Bucks. Good Luck.

If It Is Your Output Turbon Sensor That Part Is 16-20 Bucks And Is Located On Your Tranny Housing. Basicaly Tells The Computer How Fast The Driveshaft Is Spinning For It Knows When To Switch Gears. If That Isnt Working Your Vehicle Wont Leave 1st Gear.

I just had autozone check my light and had the exact same code, it is the speed sensor on the back driver side of the transmission.....easy to change, but be sure you have the new one ready to go in as some trans fluid will come out when you pull the old one out....part was thirty bucks at autozone....my light has been off ever since.

Careful with the terms. The 720 code is for the "Output speed sensor" which is the one on the transmission. The "Rear speed / ABS" sensor is the one on the differential and will not trip a PCM code.

Output Speed Sensor Question

Neil F. when rockadaous displayed a picture of the Output Speed Sensor you mentioned that it was the wrong sensor. Where you talking about the others who where speaking about the speed sensor on the rear axle housing or the picture posted by rockadaous? Please get back to me as soon as possible about this, I really need to replace my OSS and I'm having a little trouble locating it. I'm not very mechanically inclined and I believe it is the one I saw in the picture. Thanks!

The picture is not showing in the thread but I believe Rock had posted a picture of the differential sensor and that was the wrong sensor for the code. As said above and in the other thread, the Output Speed Sensor is on the driver's side of the transmission near the rear.
