What is a cheap rim for offroading???
yoo,
im looking for a cheap rim for my truck. so far i found the rock cralwer (black) rims would be the best price. i guess i dont want too wide of a tire becuase the stress on the front end and the lessing of the turning radius, so i would get maybe a 10.5 wide tire. so i need to find a nice looking rim, and cheap. i have a black rango, if i got black rims, i would be afriad it would look too dark. (ive never seen a pic of a black on black rango) :help: |
does anyone have any pictures of a black or dark color rango with black rims?
|
i will in two weeks haha, bear with me friend!!!
|
except mines white....oops
|
American Racing 767s come in the correct bolt pattern, about $40 per rim, they are black steel D windows. Cragar makes a 15x8 as well, about $35, black steel D window. Rockcrawler has one as well.
I believe American Racing makes the same wheel in white and has a chrome finished one as well. get the black wheels, first stop off road is some mud. Once they are "earth tone", it won't be too dark! |
ok guys. www.4wheelparts.com is a very helpful site. luntill last night i couldnt find any rims. there some pretty cheap ones on there too. so i guess if im going for a narrowish tire, i cant get a 15x10?
|
what do you consider narrow? 33x9.50 is narrow, 32x11.50 is not in my mind.
15x8s will get you safely through 32" size tires. |
well i would get 9.5 wide tires but i am afriad they look too stock. my dad has 33 or 34x 11.5 on his truck (BF A/T) and i like the size and look of them
so i was thinking about maybe a 11.5 wide tire now. what does you guys think about these rims? http://www.4wheelparts.com/4wp/produ...HEELS&man=TECH |
they would maybe look like this on my durango...
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/649649 |
you need to lift your truck to 11.5 on just a body lift of 2 or 3 will work and give you the space you need to turn the 11.5 other wise you will rub and it keeps you from cutting your wheelwell
|
the truck in the pic has a suspenison lift on it i think but if you want a cheap way out you can op for the 3" body lift that sales for about $280 on 4wheelparts.com
|
yea i was going to get a 3" body and a 3" suspension lift too. so i'll be good running 33x11.5 on a 3" body lift, then later add the suspension lift. from the link above (from my other reply) on www.4wheelparts.com , do you think that rims in that pic would look like a deep dish if i got the 15x10?
|
do you mean will it stuck out like a full deep dish would. yes as long as you get the right back spaceing.

The frame hang on the last pics Durango looks so sick. This week ill post a bunch of pictures of my D with black rims.

Kevin_Rants ,
Thanks for the pics, Im still debating wether or not to go with a chrome or black rim. But which ever way i go, im going with bf goodrich A/T 33x10.5. i really like the A/T, look and road noise. but also am debating to go for the 33x12.5 or 33x10.5 becuase 33x10.5 is not recomemded for a 15x10 rim |
hey again,
do you guys think this rim is strong??? it doesnt look like it to me. also , if i would be getting 15x10, i dont think it would be a deep dish, becuase they dont look deep dish. also does anyone know if anyone who is running these rims? i found a pic of an explorer with these rims, they dont look too bad. heres the link: http://4wheelparts.com/4wp/products/...HEELS&man=TECH |
Those are the exact rims i am getting and trust me, they are strong. I know 8 people that have either the Series 51 or the 97 and after serious abuse from off roading i have not seen a problem. I will have pics of them on my D in under a week.
|
ok, but if i got the 15x10, would they be deep dish?
|
Im not sure deep dish has to do with how wide the rim is, im pretty sure it just has to do with backspacing right???
