megablack 09-12-2007 07:59 PM

Just in case it has not been covered. 325/60/18 will not fit a 2wd megacab 1500 with no lift. I tried today. Just sitting on the ground and turing that hit on the front wheel well piece.

I have a 2005 Hemi 4x4, single cab. I modded my engine for speed, but now i want to put some 35's on either the stock 20's, or sell the 20's and get some 315/70/17 on some 17" rims.

I want to take off the 2/4 drop, and crank up my t-bars if i need to? any suggestions would be great.

Bob are you still out there?

Got my new wheels in today and could'nt wait for my leveling kit to get in so I put them on. I've seen a few post that said "minor" rubbing on 35's with no lift/level ... well. here is a pic of what minor rubbing looks like at full lock. It seem'd the lug's on the toyo's would rip out the wheel well liner so i took a dermal and removed some of the liner. Took out more than I really prob. needed to but I got my wheels on .. love'n it.

I have an '04 Ram 1500 QC 4x4. I'd like to get the black Cragar Soft 8's in 17x9 (5" of backspacing) with some 315/70/17's or 35/12.5/17's. Will this combo work?

Here's a link to the rim I'm looking at:

I have read through most of this. I have a 2004 Ram 2500 Hemi 4x4 quad cab longbed, and am thinking of going with 315/70/17 tires but am concerned they will hit/rub. I don't go offroading and mudding is not a concern, would just like a better look and a little more traction when I drop my quads off on the fire roads. I do not plan to do any suspension mods, want to keep it stock, so am I better off getting 285/70/17 tires? Truck looks kinda funny with the stock 265/70/17 blackwalls on it. Snow performance is important, too because I plow with this truck and tow a snowmobile trailer.

2004 Hemi 4x4 2500 Quad Cab Laramie.

When I first started thinking about adding larger tires DodgeTalk :help: was the first place I started and the info I got was "there would be no problems with rubbing if I added 35 x 12.50s". Well that was wrong.

I started with a 2" leveling spacer and 35 x 12.50 x 17 Toyo Open Country MTs on the stock chrome clad rims. They rubbed the trailing arm pretty significantly on both sides. Then I added the black Ultra Goliath 17" Wheel, and if i remember corectly it has a 22 offset. Then I was golden!! :rck: No rubbing what so ever, even off road with wheels turned completely in both directions. The only problem I had then was there was a pull on the steering wheel to the right that couldnt be corrected by simply getting an alignment. I had to have an offset ball joint added and then the truck drove like new.

Does anyone have a picture of a 2500 ram with a leveling kit and stock wheels with 285/75/17's?? I can't seem to find one anywhere

07RAMMIN 11-02-2007 11:54 AM

2.5 inch leveling kit by Readylift
305/55/20 Nitto terra Grapplers on stock 20" wheels DOES NOT WORK!!!
It rubs mildly on the upper control arm under all driving conditions.
The offset on the stock 20" wheels put the rubber on the arm.
I'm forced to go back to 275/60/20 in the Nitto until I can afford some better wheels.
I hope this helps someone!

Will not work... they would be way too wide. The widest you could run would be 12". My 12.5" Grapplers rubbed. I don't see a problem with the 36" height with a 3" lift. I'm also assuming your running the stock 20's.

Does the 04's have more offset clearance than the 07's? I just can't see how that setup you have doesn't rub.

rock ram 11-03-2007 08:19 AM

spacers

there are peolple on this forum that put 5/16 or 1/4 inch wheel spacers to run 305/55/20 on 06 and newer rams

monster2006hemi 11-03-2007 05:23 PM

no i'll be going to a wider rim with more offset then would they fit

2500 with leveling kit with stock wheels and 285/75/17's fits perfect

Evil Ram 11-05-2007 04:50 PM

That truck looks so perfect with those.

I was really hoping to see a 1500 with them.
Perhaps I'll have to be the one.

VengefulHemi 11-05-2007 07:08 PM

i'm in the planning stages right now. fabtech 6, 2"body, 36x15.50 mt baja mtz's&mt classic lock's&ladder bars. i want to drop from a 20 to an 18. does anyone know if an 05/2wd can have dual steering stabilizers? having trouble controlling my hormones just thinking about this :flippy:

Rammitall 11-06-2007 07:51 AM

Will they rub without the leveling kit? (Dan63)?

danh63 11-06-2007 08:24 AM

I am not sure. After work I will crank it both ways and try to see if they would. I was surprised on how much the leveling kit did.

hey jksust wonding if 33x12.5x17's will fit on a stock ram 1500 with stock rims?? i am looking at the cooper stt's any help is appriciated than

boatiedawg 11-13-2007 07:54 PM

Have to add this

I still have my stock 20"s and tires (32.9") on now but have been researching a lot on just about every tire out there for when I get ready to buy some. There are a lot of tires on here that just state the general size on the tire itself. If you look at the same size tires but with different brands they all have a different actual size from each other! So make sure you look at the manufacturers sight for the exact overall diameter of the tire you want exactly and not what the number states on the tire someone says will fit. It will save you a headache in the long run!!!

07quad 11-26-2007 05:10 PM

Just installed a set of Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ LT305/55R20 on my truck with 1/4" spacers. no rub so far, and way better tire than those piece of juck Goodyears that came on it from the factory.

sherwoodfeldy 11-26-2007 05:41 PM

Spent a long day yesterday learning about what doesn't fit my truck.

Based on what I read on this thread, I ordered up some 305/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers for my 06 1500 4x4 with a 2" Tuff-Country level kit.

The tires would not fit with the stock rims, the upper part of the tire hit against the upper control arm without even bolting it on. Tried 295/70/17's, and they barely fit, maybe with a millimeter or two to spare. To be safe I ended up going with 285/70/17's.

So, contrary to some other posts, 305/70's will NOT fit with stock rims and no lift, or even a 2" front level (at least with the rims I have). Here's a photo of how the 285's look... The 305's looked pretty BA when they were on, maybe next time I'll do a new set of rims with more of an offset.

danh63 12-20-2007 03:48 PM

sorry to here about that. What a pain that must have been to go thru

k9hawkeye 01-04-2008 12:04 AM

Without a lift, how big of tires can I put on my truck without rub? (17" rims, 2004 Ram 1500 4X4)

scdaren 01-04-2008 12:16 AM

On my truck - 2006 4x4 1500 QC with a 2" level, it was 285/70's with the stock rims. If I'd put on aftermarket rims with more of an offset (or a spacer by I think that's a bad idea), I think I could have got 305's on there.
