Alright lets have it, so many guys think that blowing a little smoke is going to end the world. What do you think?

im guessing you know what i voted for dahsma! lol

I think it's wasting fuel, and performance will lack because it's not getting fully burned.

Like the old saying goes, there's a time and place for everything. I believe the folks at the track would appreciate a good smoke show versus the general public.

Look at it like this, people on the street looking for a challenge would correlate smoke with power. How cool would it be for you to knock their nuts into the dirt with very little to no smoke?

Oh boy.... just read the other thread ( shakes head )

I think you should've added "looks cool occasionally but still a waste"

well that is a very good point there bad munky. Kind of like a sleeper. I like that idea but i also like to be able to bellow a cloud into the car on the side of me that has their windows down and is full of trash talkin thugs. Now that is FUN! But back to your comment, gale banks just did a 1,000 HP duramax diesel that runs a low 9 sec (maybe a high 8) 1/4 mile with zero smoke. I wish i could have a button in my truck that would say SMOKE ON. Kinda like an airshow stunt pilot. LOL

dont know if this has been said but its only fun until they pull the 9mm and blow your head off cause they are trash talking gang banger ass holes **** dick suckin prison monkeys that some lame ass judge and bleading heart green peacer put back onto the street for the 9 time lol rant over

I read the same article about G/B... that's what kind of steered me into this decision.

A sleeper diesel would rock.... unfornutely, any enthusiast would be able to tell by your exhaust tone that something just isn't quite right...lol

A smoke button would be cool.

It's a shame we couldn't do flame throwers like gassers... imagine that coming out of dual stacks.

wait....ford did it for the '08 super duty N/M.

#10 ·
haha. yeh cuz these things have to breathe serious amounts of air to make power. i don't think their is a way around that. Maybe like a 6" exaust with a muffler. But it wouldn't sound stock.

The average person that doesn't know anything about diesels think your truck is running bad when you smoke out an intersection. Most of the kids also laugh when they see a truck blowing smoke thinking its broken :)

Just reiterating...

He had smoke but he masked it with NOS.

But then they realize that they are driving a Dodge and know that it's not broke down...haha....

wait? I do remember reading that he used NOS. I have a question for the more informed. How does NOS reduce EGT 's and how does it mask smoke? That topic is fascinating to me since i always thought that it made gassers run hot and detonate.

nitrous is an oxidizer so it just lets you burn more fuel, if you have unburnt fuel causing smoke the nitrous will help burn it by adding the extra oxygen needed, the smoke comes from too much fuel for the oxygen or air supply, nitrous doesn,t cause deto but too much of a shot with out proper fuel octane and timing retard will cause deto. every motor has its limits so if you add to much fuel and oxygen weather it is forced induction or nitrous with out lowering compression, running better fuel and or retarding timing you will deto.nitrous running the right mixture will lower egt,s as it lowers your charge air temp.

Nitrous does not mask or hide smoke, it creates a more efficient burn in the combustion chamber therefore eliminating smoke.

BTW, Banks has ran in the 7's with a Duramax, and ran 217 mph with a Cummins, both with no smoke.

The only smoke I want to see out my truck is tire smoke.

I read an article somewhere by Gale Banks that said he didn't get anymore HP from the Nitrous, it just eliminated the smoke so in my books that would be "masking" the smoke :)

ok, i will say that the nos inthat case takes the place of the exta fuel it would have took to make the same power and way nore smoke.
so tell me what i should add to my setup for alot more smoke.

Smoke coming from the stacks is not nearly as cool as pumping into the window of an annoying boom box ricer. I always wanted a switch to turn it off-and-on because there are times you just want a clean tail pipe.

I love smoke, my last Ram (lbc:LifeBeforeCummins) I had dually exhausted on the rear corners for beer can exhaust/annoying stereos and to let them know what a real engine/exhaust combo sounds like. Now with smoke....piss me off or annoy me on the highway or at a stoplight...and I will smoke your beer can ricer. Pisses the wife off but the kids love it: tally in my truck: Smoke-4 Wife-1!!!!!

in some places "smokin" that ricer may get you a 9mm response...

#26 ·
And in some places a 9mm response gets either a 4H or 4L response right back Bigfoot style. And after a year in Baghdad (not saying I am superman) 9mm is nothing and I have seen some "ricer responses" they unload an entire magazine and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn from 10 meters. Just my .02
