This is why I'll be glad when Superchips releases theirs. Hopefully it will be an update to the 3865? Either way, seems like from what I've read about them, they take their time but release quality products.
I was eager to get a Diablo but after seeing all the issues with the 11's in gonna wait...
Last time diablo rushed with dodge tuning there were tons of tranny failures recently afterwards.
I haven't adjusted anything but throttle boost and MDS. I didn't have any problems with it at all but the diablo canned tunes are worthless. Shaved a whopping .06 off my 0-60. Loaded a custom hemifever tune last night and it runs like a new truck. Haven't tested the 0-60 yet but I will today.
I just installed the 91 tune this afternoon and only modified the Throttle boost to 10%, then max 20% and it definitely feels like a diff truck! No more bogging in low rpm and the throttle response is near mechanical feeling now. I am very happy so far! 1-2 shifts feel much firmer at WOT but not quite superchips crisp like my buddys 07. I can't wait to get a hemi fever tune and get it running perfect. I Wish I had some 3.92s too...add that to my wish list...
I got a 6.8 0-60 first try with a full tank of gas and dog 3.55's, not bad for a big ol cc yank tank
I'm not too familiar with Diabo tuners, this is my first, so I'm gonna have to get more familiar with it.
I was Monitoring spark knock and max st was 6 at some point, LT max was 1 I think. I should have wrote it down. I probably need to do some logging and see where. I am gonna have hemi fever tune it and fix all that hopefully. I think it pulled about max 5 deg of timing from what I noticed...still feels way better than stock, thats for sure!
Pardon my ignorance if I read the monitoring wrong, but I think that was correct.
i had no problems installing the 93 tune. but wasn't able to load the tune with any modifications such as tire size, mds off, or traction control off.
i do notice a difference, but not a huge difference like when i got the torque converter installed last week.
my first 0-60 was 6.90, but traction control came on.
2nd 0-60 in 4x4 was 6.03.
These were both with close to a full tank of 93, from a dead stop.
UPDATE
did a few more today 91 tune with 93 octane
revved up to 2500 from dead stop in 4wd
0-60 5.43 sec my best time so far
thanks.... yeah man, i'm pretty impressed with it. i'm trying to scrape some money together to get an intake, throttlebody, and hemifever tune. then take it to the track late winter, early spring.
I got my Hemifever 91 tune over the past week and a half since my initial tune and wow what a difference! The truck is more responsive, improved part throttle and wot shifts, it pulls harder and runs great. It is such a pleasure to drive now. I can't thank Sean enough, its awesome. He definitely knows his stuff and answered all my questions, even over the weekend. That's above and beyond service!
The only glitch appears to be 1-2 shift wont go over 5500rpm, even in manual mode it auto shifts. Sean set it at 5800 and I tried upping it to 6k to see if it would change and it didn't. It appears to be a Diablosport firmware bug from reading their forums, seems more than just Rams are having problems modifying shifts. I hope they get it worked out soon.
Anyone that has a Diablosport tuner I highly recommend getting a hemifever tune, its so damn good!
ps: I just received my JBA shorties today, looks like saturday its time to pull those cast iron boat anchors off!
I don't want to sound like an "*******" but I gotta say, thats a ton of money to get happiness out of the truck. Roughly $500+ for the programmer and I assume another $200+ for the tuning by Hemifever....so for $700ish bucks you get a tune. I can't justify that. But I'm glad its working for you.
On a second note, I really am curious how the headers will turn out in sound and all with the 24" muffler....
I'ts all good! I paid less than that and the custom tune was $125 from Sean. I had an 04 Ram with a superchips in the past, my buddy has an 07 with sc, and I knew how much tuners improve these trucks, its night and day vs stock. I can't stand the stock throttle response, overbearing torque management and slushy shifting myself. A tune really wakes these trucks up! Its awesome to me.
DS will eventually release for their cheaper Intune tuner later. Sean has pretty good bundles of tuner/tune on his site too as 0212353 mentioned.
Its kind of a personal thing, and everyones got their own budgets. People spend thousands on different things...looks, lifts, tires, lights, paint, performance, etc. I love unleashing the power myself. To each their own I suppose but if you havent driven a tuned ram, I highly suggest it! Might change your mind...
I too am curious how the new headers will sound with my setup. I had headers on my 04 but had a dumped flowmaster 40, which droned my brain out eventually so I went really conservative on this truck muffler wise. I'll try and throw up a comparison vid once its done. It smoothed out my sound on my 04, not a huge difference but definitely noticeable.
I suppose thats just me getting older. I used to want the loudest nastiest exhaust I could get...now I just like it to bark a bit but be quiet inside. Hehe
Got my custom tune through hemifever also....holy cow my truck is alive. The increase in power and mileage was very impressive and Sean is a hell of a guy to work with.
My only issues with the Trinity are that when updating the tire size, it says update failed but it does actually work. Entering 33.5" on tire height fixed my speedo for runnings 35s. I also have a problem getting the recording log to work but Diablosport has been working with me on that.
What 0-60 are some of you other 4th gen guys running? I'm gonna find some more 17s soon to throw on.
