I for the longest time ran a front sway bar and just this weekend I took it off. I really REALLY like the ride difference. It is MUCH softer of a ride and seems to be more of a true "IFS".. It does have a little of a body roll but its not that bad.
That is nice, do you have a Power Wagon??? I notice that your sig doesn't say it so I was wondering how you got your disconnect sway bar?
I like that carli sway bar, I seen that they got a carli starter kit, but it doesn't say it is a lift at all. It looks like its just a replacement suspension kit.
No I have a 2500 SLT, with the Carli Starter System, I do not have a disconnect sway bar, I have the Carli Torsion Sway Bar, the picture in Post#267 in one I found on line.
The Starter System is usually listed as a 3" lift, and I got all of that up front, since the rear of the truck is already high from the factory this kits sets the truck level.
Approximately 2.75" of front lift (varies slightly with different cab configurations)
Approximately 1"of rear lift Varies slightly with different cab configurations and the amount of stock spacers installed)
Level Ride
Here's a Pic of the truck, after the lift, before the 35 Toyo's. That is a 12" ruler sitting on top of the tire.
I put a leveling kit (spacer) in and I am going to be getting 295 or 305's when I finally get the set on there wore down. I installed the leveling kit and spent less than 100 total, shipping and all. It would have to be a pretty big ride change to justify 1300 plus install, to me. I do want to get a lift, but it'll prolly be a pro-comp or fabtech but thats down the road a ways.
I'd love to have the disconnect sway-bars but I'll have to do something like that guy did in that thread you posted earlier. Thanks for the help though.
that looks pretty interesting. ill have to check into those set ups when i get my lift.
currently i do not use a sway bar at all and i have a stock truck with 33s. i rides just fine but i know ill have problems most likely when i get a 3 inch lift and 35s.
for now though it handles great on road and off.
flexxes pretty good without the swaybar and no lift. i wish i had pics of before it was removed. it was pretty horrible
I would never remove my sway bars. The chassis designers put them there for a reason and I don't know enough about vehicle dynamics to question their motives.
If I drove off road I can see where they impede axle articulation but most of my driving is on roads and they might just save my butt one day in an unintended high speed manuver.

the truck feels fine without the sway bar. you actually dont even notice it isnt there except for a bit of body role and that only when im on single lane over pass ramp to get off one highway to another where the speed limit says 50 mph. i just drop down to 45 or so just to be safe. i have had to dodge a few things on the highway a few more times than i would like too have. truck reacted fine.
EDIT--- Would also like to saw that offroad is a ton better as well. i went to the same spot i went with the sway bar installed and the truck was a ton smoother. loved it
I have a PW and I removed my swaybar end links. I don't regret it at all. You can only unlock the swaybar under 18mph...that does you no good when you're driving over choppy uneven roads/gravel fire roads. The swaybar does not allow the suspension to cycle properly. SO I took my links off. Big difference in ride, minimal difference in handling. You could always try taking the links or bar off and see how it rides. If you don't like it or are nervous, then put them back on. I've been without links for about 6K now. Done a lot of towing/interstate/city driving. All is well!
Without the sway bar, the vehicle will have excess chassis roll that compresses the outside suspension and tire and causes the inside tire to go into droop. But that is really pushing the truck.. possible I guess.
Mine's off, the ride is so much better without it. It finally let's the IFS do its the, letting it move independently. Yeah it sways alot more, but bumps don't feel nearly as harsh without it. Plus, way more flex
I'd took off the sway bars on my Dakota when offloading, only. Back on the road and I hooked it back up. The back end sway bar worked wonders for the drifting. I'd wire them up to frame, since I didn't have the PW setup.
What would some do if someone leveled their truck and they need longer sway bar links on an IFS setup. d_layne is trying to find that out and Im curious aswell.
Getting a beefier bar and links will probably transfer slightly more bumps to the body due to the fact the thr bar is cconnected to the frame and suspension. It wont make suspeension stiffer but will def control body roll. You make think.the.suspension is stiffer bc you may feel more of the road
old thread - but pulled mine today, probably not going back on..much better than without it. my 06 rides like complete crap anyway, never intended for 'da twistiez
my opinion..its no worse than a lift kit - they all come with disclaimers, some even sun visor stickers "vehicle characteristics have changed, yada yada yada".
my wrangler w/ 35's and a 6" lift would come up on three wheels around a corner for crying out loud
I took mine off my 07 2500 4x4 QC and it rides smoother. The narrow bumpy crowned roads that you think you are going to run off into a ditch when a car passes....The tires don't track at all on these roads. 35/12.50's.
