This is how the throttle linkage sits normally.

When the carborator is at full throttle it does not push the throttle linkage to full throttle on the automatic transmission.
Help please... :P

i also beleive it is a weber 8867 carberator but cant seem to find much info on it online. I am wondering if there is a way to raise the little lever on the carb to get more travel outa it so when i floor the gas the level moves to the full position to down shift.

Hi DurtyDi,
I think you need to lengthen the adjustment at the top of the vertical rod (behind the motor) and shorten the carb rod. If that doesn't help then the trans may have a problem.
Are you running a new high rise manifold?
Is this a new installation of this 3 piece kick down linkage?
If you need to extend the vertical piece, weld/braze a ¼-28 nut to the head of a 1 ½“ long 1/4 -28 bolt and thread the adjuster onto that. I had to do this to my ’69 Road Runner when I put a 6 BBL on it.
Good luck

That carb. is almost if not completely identical to an Edelbrock Performer carburetor.
Another thing you can try..which I've done...is to add a bolt through the slot in the kickdown linkage head behind the carb. linkage stud. Use washers so the head of the bolt doesn't slip through the slot.
Looking at your throttle, does the thottle open all the way? I might be mistaken but it looks like it isn't.

If you look at the linkage you have your finger on in the second picture you'll see that it is threaded onto the kickdown linkage rod just behind where you have your finger. You should be able to remove the return spring from the carb rod and slide the kickdown linkage off of the rod and turn it clockwise in order to shorten the linkage, hopefully enough to allow it to cause the transmission to kick-down at full throttle condition. If it is already adjusted all the way in, then you can do what DodgeVanMan suggested and put a very short 1/4" bolt and nut, with two flat washers sandwiched against the sides of the linkage slot. By then adjusting this bolt forward or rearward you should be able to adjust the "kickdown point" to the proper place. Normally, this is just a little short of the actual FULL THROTTLE position. This may take a little "Trial and Error" series of adjustments to get it to where you want it.

If this the carb has been switched from a two barrel to a four, you probably have the wrong kickdown rod. I've also done mods to make them work, but nothing beats using the right part.
