Our new Magnum came with one key. Do I have to go to the dealership to get another one? If so, I'm sure I will have to pay outta my nose. Is there a better route to go? Looking for identical key to the one that came with the car (remote entry, panic, etc).

You should have gotten two keys. I don't know of anyone that only got one. Both are keyless entry.

You actually NEED the identical key! There is a security feature built into the electronics of the key and car that will prevent the car from staying turned on unless a key, with the correct circuit ID is used..
Unless I totally misunderstood the manual, A duplicate key from the hardware store will not work.

The car was used and the dealership (lexus dealership) only had the one key that the previous owner supplied. So, is it possible to go to Dodge and get another key to match?

With only 1 key you have to go to the dealer. ~$70.00 plus whatever to program & cut. You can but the Dodge keys on eBay as well as generics w/o the keyless entry. Once you get another key from the dealer get another key yourself and program it (my local hdw cut it for nothing when I got other keys)

You need to go to a Dodge dealer, key shops can program you a second key, but they need both original keys and the car, to do so.

Bob-
Why do they need BOTH keys? -just curious

Since I'm often at the beach, can I simply goto a hardware store to get a 'blank'; have them cut it and open the door? -I'd leave my programmed-circuited key inside the car somewhere....

To put the car in programming mode for the additional keys you insert the first one and turn the car on and off and then do the same to the second within a certain amount of time, then the car will learn a new key. That's not the exact procedure but you get the idea. If you don't have both keys then the Dealer will have to program the extra key via Starscan.
The blank should work in the door. I think the car only uses the chip (which is what you're actually programming) to start the car. Not sure if the alarm will arm just locking the door with a key though.

Here's the exact procedure from the Knowledge Base on the other forum:

Below are the directions for programming a new key. Tthe documentation says that this method will only work on domestic(US) vehicles. Non US has to have the dealer program new keys.

1. Insert one of two programmed keys and turn ignition switch to on.

2. After ignition has been set to On for over 3 seconds but not more than 15 seconds turn the ignition back to Off.

3. With in 15 seconds insert the second key and turn the ignition switch to on.

4. About 10 seconds later the security indicator in the instrument cluster will start flashing.

5. With in 60 seconds replace the second key in the ignition with the new key. Turn the ignition switch to On using the new key.

6. After about 10 seconds the security indicator will stay on for about 3 seconds and then turn off to indicate that the key was successfully programmed. Turn the ignition to Off and you can now use the new key with the vehicle.

I still use the club whenever I park my car at an airport or anyplace like that. With the additional security offered by these keys, does the club really add any additional benefit?

My other concern about the club on this car, since the steering columns don't lock anymore, the weight of the long side of the club is pulling the steering wheel to the right. This might not be anything to worry about; I just don't like the tension on the steering system.

Do you still use the club with these keys?

Thanks,

The last "car thief" documentary I saw on TV, the club made the guy waste another 10 sec of time to cut the steering wheel with bolt cutters before he stole the car.

The Club or similar devices that only slip under part of the steering wheel are only good at deterring "joy rider thieves". As has been stated a professional will defeat that device in less time than it takes to pour a cup of coffee.
