I have a 83 D50 short bed with bad trans. My neighbor has a 84 custom 100 w/ full bed can anyone tell me if the trans from the 84 custom 100, fit the 83 D50 short bed? thank you,

John, later on in the late 80`s & early 90`s certain ford rangers used the same mitsu tranny that the D 50 did. Not sure about an 83, I know my 88 has the trans that was shared with the ranger....In fact, I went to a ford dealer to get a few internal parts for it.........Not sure bout an 83 though, you could do some research on web sites that sell trannys to see if they are the same.............If so, you could probably pick one up from a bone year, sure theres more rangers in there than D50`s... ( I hope your talking bout a manual tranny........)

They're not quite the same trannies, they are the same model as a Ranger, but they are made slightly different. Bellhousing is different, which I think could be changed but the tailshaft and one or two other things are different as well. We had a tranny guy look at one one time when me and Dad were running AutoWrex, to see if they could be made to work.
