Anyone know why the Daytona and the road and track versions of the R/T have 350HP and where it comes from??? Looked at the description of the Road and track version (the version i'll be getting) but it doesn't say anyhthing about where the extra 10 HP come from.

I am informed that the R & T package has a better catback system, reducing the backpressure. Anyone else have any different info? :thatfunny

I have Flows installed on mine along with the Superchips Flashpaq.

Headed to the local Dyno Dude soon, and will report results.

Judging from speed/torque, I have easily added 10HP and a boatload of peformance enhancements, especially when hitting that little button on the control panel (you know, that one you hit that shows the icon with the skid marks...on the dash panel)!

Exhaust AND intake.

It addresses this in the brochures at the dealer.

I had to chose between a Road and Track R/T and the Daytona.

They were sitting back to back with a "Caliber" between them.

The real "deal clincher" was the exhaust on the Daytona, It had a slight amount more crackle to it.

They are not identical exhaust, at least not on those 2 examples.

Cool thanx for the info. I picked up the car last night. LOVE IT!!! Does need to be a little louder in the exhaust, but that can be done later. To late to take pics of it last night so I'll try and get some on the forums later today.

I think one can eliminate the resonators at the rear and get more exhaust note.

I think someone on here has done that.

It might be too loud though.

It might be too loud though.

I ran without reso's for quite a while. It was loud and droned <= especially betwee 2-2.5K.

Too loud for me I finally did a Corsa CATBack got a sweet sound now.

PW's also right on the extra 10 the Daytona has a little larger intake and something different in the exhaust. I've deleted all the differences on the exhaust with headers and Corsa.

ltpyro,
The R and T package has a single pass (straight thru) suitcase muffler, vs. a triple pass on the standard RT. Also, the airbox top and tube is 4 in., vs. 3 in. on the standard RT. I installed this setup on my 05 Magnum, and there is a noticeable difference over the stock setup. Exhaust is slightly louder also, but not too loud. There is no resonation like with some aftermarket systems, but I can now tell when the MDS is engaged, as verified by my MDS "on" indicator light.

There is a light?

Where is it?

I developed this light about a year ago for the LX platform only. I am sure you can hook it up on any DCX vehicle with MDS. You would just need to track down the wire(s) to the MDS solenoids. You can see the particulars, and how to install it at:

Based on a DCX Rep's response on ChargerForums last summer, it is definitely the intake and exhaust that make the extra 10 HP. The only difference between the R&T and the Daytona is the number of perforations inside the mufflers themselves. The R&T version has something like 100 holes whereas the Daytona has somewhere in the 600 range. Reading up on muffler perforations explained that the more holes allows for a "throatier" sound tuning which explains why the Daytona's exhaust sounds deeper than the R&T. The number of perfs do not lead to more HP, just a different sound tuning.

Also, the Daytona suitcase muffler is a "single pass" muffler, whereas the stock RT suitcase muffler is a triple pass type.

That is true, however the original question concerns only the difference between the Daytona and the R/T with the Road&Track package (AWT?). Both of which have the "single pass/straight-thru" suitcase muffler. The Daytona's suitcase muffler just has more "holes" in the interior section of the pass-thru pipe.

You guys just made my day...I just bought a Hemi Charger with the R & T package and I did not know that it had the extra HP....I never read that in any of the pre-buy research I did.

Congratulations on the recent buy. I'm sure you are grinning from ear to ear.

The R/T w/R&T is basically the same as the Daytona (drive train, suspension, steering and seats) without the color coordinating interior pieces and the exterior decals.

I sure am :D This car rocks :rck: What an improvement from my SXT Magnum.

The only thing that puzzles me is that I don't have auto headlights and the R&T package is supposed to have this. I e-mailed DC for a build sheet.

Just got a copy of the window sticker and the auto headlights are not listed under the package details. I guess they changed this at some point.

For some rason I found just by going to the dealer lots some had it and some didnt, you said you just ordered yours? i ordered mine 4 months ago and it came with the R&T pacage. But i learned that its a cheep upgrade the dealer can do if you cant get it resolved. one thing you should do is go to the DODGE web site and build and price one, when you read the R&T desciption is dose say automatic headlamps show that to the dealer and maybe you can get the upgrade for free. good luck

Yes I found out that cars built after about Dec 06 have them. If you have the dual zone air cond. all of the electronics are there for auto headlights. All you have to do is pull of the knob and grind off the stop on the back which will allow the knob to turn one more notch to the left and they will work.

The R&T has a larger exhuast system and a better CAI filter.
As a matter of fact the R&T is a Daytona without the show.

The black Charger is sharp.I just got an 06 it was to come from another dealer in Black ,but they lost it.I was smokin.I took a red one.I got a better deal. But when I see a black one I have flashbacks.Back to the subject,I was wondering why I got 10 more horse power. Both are RT'S and road & track. The dealer said it was the date of manufacter.I notested the air tube was a different collor and bigger. So I figured it had something to do with the breathing.

I purchased my '06 Charger R/T with the RT group and nav system. However, the one I found came with the $5 dollar rear view mirror. The dealer(s) stated I could not replace that because of the electronics in the roof. I got the sun roof too.

Any suggestions? or do I live with this cheap-ass mirror. I love my Charger though and I will endure it.

I just bought the Mopar cold air kit for my Charger. I see others being used. Is the Mopar kit no good?

My '06 Charger R/T with the RT group, navigation system, sunroof and Sirius radio came with the optional upgraded mirror.

Sounds like your dealer is trying to pull a fast one on you.

I thought so too. I called several dealers in the area. There is a harness that comes to the outlet by the rear view but no one wants to touch it. :help:

The tire size on the Road and Track package is 245/45/20. Someone understated them at 235. (Size does matter.)

My SO was tired of her Buick, and wanted something 'younger'. I wanted her to get the SRT, but I knew she wouldn't appreciate the high octane necessary, and the gas guzzler tax (me too, why should the gubment profit from our choice of a fine car?). When I found out about the R & T package, wow! I suggested she drive one, and when she did (Sublime Daytona!), she came away very impressed, surprising since she really likes the cushy drive of her Buick. So, soon her Steel Blue Metallic R/T, with the R & T package should be arriving. We ordered it to be built, since none were found on dealer lots with what she wanted. Plus rebates have gone from $2,500 to $3,500 while we are waiting, plus our emplyee pricing discount! A lot of car for a decent amount of money. Can't wait.
