I read a few post of people lowering there second gen neon with first gen springs?
what all do i need?
just springs or do i need all struts and springs?
will i need to get an alignment after?
I just replaced balljoints and had an alignment so will i need another?
thanks

1st gen springs will lower a 2nd gen by a little over an inch. The spring rates are the same, so you will not need new struts (unless yours are blown already for some other reason). 1st gen struts will not fit on 2nd gen spindles, so use 2nd gen struts. You will have to remove the struts from the car to change the springs, so you will need an alignment afterwards. You are going to be changing camber by using lower springs, which will affect toe.
Best of luck!

It's not enough to worry about typically. But there's no built-in fix for camber on your stock struts. You can use "crash bolts", which are just thinner diameter bolts to allow for a small amount of wiggle room, usually corrects up to a degree of camber. Dealer only charges $15 or so for a pair. Honestly though, your camber shouldn't be off by more than half a degree or so, which is still in spec. You can run 2 degrees negative camber and not have uneven tire wear... But the change is probably enough to change toe a degree or so, which will definitely affect tire wear. If you want to skip the alignment for now because of the costs, just realize that you'll probably need to replace the tires a little sooner than expected, but the car isn't likely to drive poorly... When you do get around to an alignment, consider the $140 or so lifetime deal from Firestone - as many times as you want, as often as you want, for whatever reason you want... I had mine in 9 times in under 6 months... more than paid for itself.
