If dodge makes this car with only a 6.1L M6 as the only drivetrain option, I fear that it may not sell all that well, and it won't be around more than a few years. Sure, there are plenty of people who will buy them like hotcackes the first year or so, but after that, the mainstream car-buying public might not be interested in that much power. IMO, there needs to be a cheaper option available to people who want the styling, but aren't as interested in having the fastest thing on the block. I would like to see a 5.7L M6 version available for $5,000 less, or a 4.7L available for a couple grand less than that. Also, a lot of people would not want a stick as a daily driver, so offering an auto for the smaller engines would keep sales up too.

Ideally, there should be a base model around $22-25k with a v6 or 4.7L v8, with a M5 or M6 and a optional A5. This would be the cash cow bulk sales car, much like the v6 Mustang is for that line.

Then have the optional "R/T" package with the 5.7L starting around $28k, and an SRT-8 package with the 6.1L in the high 30's/low 40's.

Putting out a $40,000 2+2 ponycar with a 425hp engine would be a very niche market. Personally, it would be much more realistic for me to buy a 5.7L M6 version for around $30k.

Hopefully they build a v-6 model that way the volume will be up and they can offer better pricing.

I agree that there should be a smaller engine but I wouldn't be caught dead in a V6 Challenger. I see the rising gas prices and i still don't care. IMO all muscle cars need V-8 or higher. If I had a choice, I'd put the 5.7 w/ MDS.

IF DCX builds the Challenger you can almost bet they will do it to compete with the new Mustang including V6's and smaller V8's to get back their investment.

no...it should be a base of a V6, or the 5.7L Hemi, the R/T should get the 6.1L and the SRT should get the new 392 hemi..in my opinion

it will probably share it's engine options with the Charger, Magnum and 300 3.5L V6, 5.7L HEMI V8 and the 6.1L HEMI V8 but chances are no awd like the Charger

why would you want awd in a muscle car? Or traction control for that matter. It just takes all the fun out of having a car that will tear it's own tires to pieces.

Amen to that. The torque management already hinders the Hemi in trucks. So, we are forced to pay $400 for a chip to remove 80% of the torque management system. But let me say, it is WELL worth it. Dodge should have made the Hemi perform like this straight from the factory.

They need to offer it with different engine options. I thought a 4.7L with a 6-spd would real nice in that car.

To make it faster and safer!

exactly. Most people have no idea how to handle a RWD car with that much power. Also, for people in the northern states, TCS is helpful in the winter. But in a performance oriented car, they should definitely make the TM&TCS toggleable.

I don't see the 4.7L being offered and at the same time hope the 2.7L isn't offered 250+ horse power rwd 5 or 6 speed sounds like fun

leave the 2.7L for a smaller fwd coupe
