I went out to a car meet and noticed that an srt4 with stage 2 had a 30 psi badge that the driver put on. is it possible for the stock turbo tu put out that much?

Definitely not 30psi
Don't quote me on it, but I believe the high teens, with a 20-22 spike

I knew it. I may not know a whole lot about turbos but I wasn't buying his bullshit for a second. It was just to hard to believe that he would be holding so much on a stock turbo. Yeah, I then heard he was boosting like 23 but then I wasn't to sure if he could even hold that much. Yeah I can see spiking but not holding. I think he hasn't even upgraded his fuel lines either.
What happens if you're boosting that much without upgrading your fuel? I always wondered. Thanks again!

The turbo would put out way too much heat trying to keep up with that pressure.

Not enough fuel + too much boost = lean engine = broken

the car will start pulling timing in attempt to not run too lean. Yeah he may be running higher boost but with timing correct and less boost the car will be faster. Just wait till the day when his engine blows and then you can laugh at him and take pride that your car was proably as fast as his because his timing was being pulled so much and your car still loves you. :D

stock turbo I believe the efficency range is 18-20.. with spikes into the lower 20's... I think the efficency is closer to 18 though.. anything over that is overkill on the turbo! and if he dont have the supportin fuel then its overkill on the motor too! caboom in a little bit!
And if he turned the boost down.. he would probably be as fast if not faster.. since his car is pullin mad timin with that much boost! especially if there is nothin to trick the pcm!

The fastest stock turbo no nitrous car, which is in the 11s, runs 23 falling to 15. To me that says a lot. It's too bad so many people will never comprehend that just going out and turning up the boost isn't the key to performance.

The main problem with out turbo is flow characteristics. It doesn't move the air fast enough due to small compressor outlet. Hence why if you try to get on it in low rpm's you get the compressor surge. Also with aftermarket wga's you get PTB. It's a good fast spooling turbo but without being ported and clipped it just doesn't flow well with higher numbers. Hence why 50 trims are so popular they offer a fast spool with larger flow numbers. But yeah just turning up the boost won't get a faster car. With these cars running so rich lots of fuel tuning is needed via wideband.
