does anybody out there know anything about ignition boxes for the srt4? I had a dart with a sb 360 in it. I put an msd distributor, blaster 2 coil, and an ign box and the box gave me quite a boost. now, as far as these things for sport cmpacts, i've heard two different stories. some guys swear by em, and other guys say that there loads of crap unless your running bigger displacementm I'm just wondering if , first, they make em for the srt, and second, if they do, are they worth it? any input would be welcome.

I use the MSD DIS-2 Programmable. I've also used the regular MSD DIS-2. Both have worked extremely well for me, but in and of themselves provide no real performance boost.

I think Dodge_Locked is refering to those "booster packs", right? Nology has one, etc... They take the stock electrical output and amplify it before it reaches the coil so the coil puts out even more electricity, right? The only thing i can see you gaining from them is more low end torque, and you have a turbo... how much more torque do you need? LOL They may make the engine more responsive at lower rpms (more spark means you can run a bigger gap) but I seriously doubt they would add any noticable upper rpm power (2-3hp tops), which is what makes these cars fast.
Have you ever noted the exhaust of an old carburated V8? what do you smell? Thats right, lots of unburnt fuel. Ignition boosters help on V8s due to the large amount of untapped power flowing out the exhaust in the form of unburnt fuel. More spark = faster combustion, meaning more of that fuel is used, creating more power (and a more efficient engine). Now go sniff your SRT-4's exhaust... you probably wont smell any fuel. The DIS (direct ignition systems) found on modern vehicles is more than capable of creating enough spark for fast, complete combustion. So until you rework your engine, punching it out and running 30psi of boost, I doubt an ignition booster is needed, or even benificial for that matter. Just my 2 cents though.

thats a very good point. yer actually dead on with that. i just hadnt heard of any being made right now for the srt. i'd seen some horses ass with one installed on an accord with nothing more than a cold air intake and catback, but i was hopin that somebody had made one for the srt for those people who cant seem to stop running a little too rich. i keep trying to get it back to around 14.7 to 1, but its just a little too difficult with what i've done. thats why i've been huntin for a hotter spark.

running slightly rich isnt a bad thing, performance wise, especially on a turbocharged engine. extra fuel will keep the temps down, and prevent detonation. It wont help your mileage, but shouldnt hurt your performance.
