I hope someone can answer this for me. I am in the process of installing Mopar Performance, Mopar CAI, and I also wanted to get the a Ram Air Hood. I have been told that the hood from RKsport will not work. I have an inquiry into ramairhood.com to see if their product will work. I did contact the dealer to see if the SRT 8 hood would work and they said yes but I am skeptical. Any suggestions? To be honest, which is more bang for your buck? The CAI or Ram Air hood?

Thank you.

Ram air does help get a little cooler air in. The SRT8 hood should work cause it puts air to where the CAI is but it will not forse the air into the intake. Ram air doesn't help that much unless you are doing high speeds and even then it is min. a combo of the 2 would put more more cooler air for the CAI to pick up.

Have you looked at RamAir Hoods? It's a different style scoop, but it looks good.

RamAir is still working on the intake that will go from the scoop to the intake, old school type. Optionallly their scoop will vent the air to the airbox.

I'm running one of their hoods which vents to the airbox. I'll be converting when the other intake once it is shipped, hopefully soon.

I uploaded some pics w/hood, check-em out once they pass inspection. Search for MangoInTX.

hedgehog,

Are you impressed with the quality of your hood? Was it painted when you received it, or did you have it painted?

The hood came painted from RAMAir and the quality was an 8.5 out of 10. There was a few blemishes nothing major and the fit at the front could have been a little tighter. Next time I would have the hood painted after fitting it.

Well in that case, I'll just buy a hood from Dodge and have it painted at a body shop. The dealership where I purchased my truck quoted me 678.00 to paint and install.

GMoore, what kind of hood you look at?

SRT 10 hood for an 06 Ram. There's no way in hell I'm going to let the dealership paint it. I plan on getting some fender flares, maybe mopar, then a hood will follow. I have to pace myself.

That is not bad for a paint and installed hood. and it should hav eno fitting issues like the RKsport ones.

SRT 10 hood for an 06 Ram.

That will look sweet. Coming back in town last night I gased up and saw one with the SRT 10 hood, made me check twice to make sure it wasn't a SRT ;) it looks nice.

The flares will also look nice. I understand about pacing, enjoy the mods!
