Does anyone know of or has tried to alter the stock seat height? I'm a bit tall 6'3" and I seem to do fine when I've got a skullcap on - but I've got spikey hair otherwise (i gotz to - i have a bazillion tattoos and piercings :rck: ) and my hair tends to top out and it bugz the hell outta me. I could just pimp out and lean back but I find that uncomforatble. Anyone have any ideas on how to drop the seat height about an inch or so? I can imagine it can be done. I was thinking about buying a stock seat from someone and making my own track for it, etc. Any thoughts?

You could try and find an aftermarket seat with a lower bottom portion. Of course, it probably wont be as comfortable. Do you have the Viper Seats by chance? If you do... you should buy some aftermarket seats and sell the Viper Seats to me!!!!!!!!!! LOL

you could always try just buyin some bar stock from the hardware store and making some brackets for it. Thats what i did for my dodge pickup. It had a bench and i dropped in buckets. I think they were out of an old nissan truck or something. (i got them off a buddys dad). Anyway, i actually had more of a problem with being too low. I'm also about 5'10, so.....

Anyway, making the brackets only took about one, 1 1/2 hours per seat. You should be able to knock it out in a weekend without any problem

You would think having been a mechanic and custom fabbing lots of stuff in my day... I would have thought of that. LOL. I think my brain has been blitzkrieging lately... the wife and I have looked at about 30 different houses the past two weeks... finding the right house while trying to sell at the same time is a bit more stressful than I had anticipated. Not to mention the wife factor...

I haven't gotten much sleep lately.

Thanks for the quick fix!

also, if you don't want to go through the hassle of all that, and just wanna pay for quick results, most racing buckets, while not quite being as comfy as the srt seats, are much thinner in the ass section. You could probably pick a pair up at your local speed shop for about 200 or so. You can usually just bolt them into your stock tracks too.

and theyd probably look pretty trick too. only problem is the ones that usually sit lower are real racing buckets without the "pimp" option

Do you have the Viper style seats? If you do and you decide to get racing seats, let me know... I'd be happy to take the Viper seats off your hands :D

If I do get aftermarket seats, I'm still going to keep the factory, just in case I want to go back to factory interior, etc. I'm still trying to keep the car looking mostly stock... with the exception of a few things here and there. But I will keep you in mind if I plan to get rid of them.

ya know what would be kinda cool? i dont know if you know apholstery or not, but you could probably get racing buckets, take the cover off yer stock seats and finagle(?) the covers onto the racing ones. its usually just a matter of relocating the clips. i dont imagine it would be all that difficult. just an idea though. you might need to be a little good at sewing. hey, does yer girl bitch at you fer spendin too much time with yer car? cuz you could get her to do the sewing for you. and you could pass it off as a "bonding experience" :D

Yeah... she does bitch at me for just having it. I don't even need to drive it, look at it, work on it or even think about it. Just having it is bad enough. I think she's jealous cuz she has a Nissan 350Z and I smacked her twice in it, and I smacked a bud of mine driving her car (she didn't believe me when I told her it was slow). She knows how to slam gears just fine, but I keep reminding her it's the car. :rck:

As for the uphostery... I'll have to look into that. I still think making my own railing for it would be easier... I wouldn't be able to move the seat forward or back, but at least my head won't hit the roof!

You know theyve got some pretty big turbo kits out for those Z's now.... If your girl ever decides to mod that Nissan, I'd watch out, LOL

and if the seats r permanently fixed, youd have a perfect excuse for everybody who asks "can i drive your car?"
